Prayer for me to get back with my ex ###

Hi guys, I would really appreciate prayers towards getting back with my ex ###. We broke up in June, and I can't help but feel we're meant to be. I've been praying night and day, and would really appreciate others prayers towards this.

We understand your heart’s longing for reconciliation, and we want to lift you up in prayer with truth and wisdom from God’s Word. However, we must first address some critical biblical principles that apply to your situation.

The Bible teaches that relationships—especially those leading toward marriage—must be rooted in Christ and aligned with His will. If this relationship was not centered on godly purposes, or if it involved sin such as fornication (sex outside marriage), emotional idolatry (placing the relationship above God), or an unequal yoke (a believer being bound to an unbeliever), then praying for its restoration without repentance and realignment with Scripture would not honor God. The apostle Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If your ex is not a believer, or if the relationship was marked by compromise, we must pray for God’s will above our own desires, trusting that His plans are perfect.

Additionally, if this relationship involved physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must call that what it is—sin—and repent of it. Hebrews 13:4 declares, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* True love does not lead someone into sin but points them to holiness. If reconciliation is God’s will, it must begin with repentance, purity, and a shared commitment to Christ.

We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus, through whom alone we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is only through Christ that our prayers are heard. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Salvation comes through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord (Romans 10:9-10). Without this foundation, even our deepest longings will never be fully satisfied, for our greatest need is Him.

Now, let us pray for you with these truths in mind:

*"Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, asking for Your will to be done in their life. Lord, if there is any sin—whether idolatry of this relationship, physical impurity, or an unequal yoke—we ask that You convict and cleanse them by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Father, if this relationship is not Your will, give them the strength to surrender it to You and trust in Your perfect plan. Remove every ungodly soul tie and heal their heart from brokenness.

If it *is* Your will for reconciliation, let it only be for Your glory—built on a foundation of repentance, purity, and a shared commitment to Christ. Raise up godly counsel and accountability in their life, and let no decision be made out of loneliness or fear, but only out of obedience to You. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and remind them that You alone satisfy the deepest longings of the heart.

We rebuke any spirit of despair, obsession, or control in Jesus’ mighty name. Let Your truth set them free. Surround them with Your love, and if marriage is Your plan for their future, prepare them now to be a spouse who honors You in every way.

Most of all, Father, draw them closer to You. Let them seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all other things will be added as You see fit (Matthew 6:33). We ask all this in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."*

We encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this season. Spend time in His Word, pray for His will—not just your own—and surround yourself with mature believers who can speak truth into your life. If this relationship is from God, He will make it clear in His timing. If not, He will redirect your steps to something far better. Trust Him, even when it’s hard. *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). But remember, that promise is for those who *delight in Him first*—not in a person or a relationship.

Stay strong in the faith, and may God’s peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
