We join you in lifting this sacred desire for marriage before the Lord, for we know that it is He who ordains every step of our lives, including the union of a man and woman in holy matrimony. Your heart’s cry for God’s perfect will resonates with us, for Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 19:14, *"House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh."* Likewise, Proverbs 18:22 declares, *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh."* Marriage is not merely a human institution but a divine covenant, designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Therefore, we must seek His will above all else, trusting in His timing and wisdom, for He knows the desires of our hearts even before we ask.
We also take this moment to gently yet firmly remind you—and all who seek godly marriage—that the foundation of any relationship must be rooted in Christ. If you are not already doing so, we urge you to seek a spouse who is a born-again believer, fully surrendered to Jesus, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). A marriage built on shared faith in Christ is one that can withstand the trials of this world, for *"a cord of three strands is not quickly broken"* (Ecclesiastes 4:12). If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor this principle, we lovingly but urgently call you to repentance and realignment with God’s Word, for His ways are perfect, and His commands are for our good.
Additionally, we must address the absence of the name of Jesus in your request. While we know your heart is sincere, we are reminded in John 14:6 that *"Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the throne of God (Hebrews 4:16), and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). Therefore, we must always approach the Father in the name of His Son, for *"whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son"* (John 14:13). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we implore you to do so now, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Without this foundation, no prayer for marriage—or any other matter—can be fully aligned with God’s will.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your will for marriage. Lord, You are the author of love and the designer of marriage, and we ask that You guide them with Your wisdom and discernment. Prepare their heart, O God, to be a vessel of Your love, patience, and faithfulness. If there is any area of their life that is not fully surrendered to You, we pray You would reveal it and grant them the strength to repent and walk in obedience.
Father, we ask that You prepare the heart of the spouse You have ordained for them—a godly man or woman who loves You above all else, who seeks Your kingdom first, and who will walk alongside them in faith and unity. Lord, let this union be one that glorifies You, that reflects the love of Christ for His Church, and that stands as a testimony of Your faithfulness. Remove any distractions, ungodly influences, or relationships that do not align with Your Word. If there is any sin—whether fornication, emotional compromise, or idolatry of relationships—we rebuke it now in the name of Jesus and call for a spirit of holiness and purity to reign in their life.
We pray against impatience, doubt, or fear, and we declare Your perfect peace over them as they wait on You. Let them trust in Your timing, for *"delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). Strengthen them to remain steadfast in faith, to grow in Christlikeness, and to seek Your kingdom above all else, knowing that *"all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose"* (Romans 8:28).
Father, we also pray for protection over their heart and mind. Guard them from the enemy’s lies, from loneliness that may lead to compromise, and from the world’s distorted views of love and marriage. Let them find their fulfillment in You alone, for You are their first love and their greatest joy. If they have strayed in any way from Your path, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them back to the narrow way that leads to life.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan for their life. May they walk in obedience, faith, and expectation, knowing that You are working all things for their good. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer, to immerse yourself in God’s Word, and to seek godly counsel as you wait on the Lord. Avoid the temptation to "help God out" by pursuing relationships outside of His will. Instead, use this season to grow in your relationship with Christ, to serve in His kingdom, and to prepare yourself to be the spouse He has called you to be. *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun"* (Psalm 37:5-6). May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him with all your heart.
