Prayer for job

We have heard your burden for this man you love who is unemployed and in need of work, and we join with you in bringing him before our heavenly Father together in Jesus name.

We know how heavy unemployment can feel, both for the one without work and for those who care for him, but we take comfort that God sees his need and cares about his provision. We are reminded that God calls work good and He provides for His children as they seek Him diligently. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently encourage you in this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can come boldly to God in prayer and know He hears us, and we pray that both you and this man know that saving grace and put your trust fully in Jesus.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we lift up this man to You in the name of Jesus. You know his needs, his skills, his anxieties and his desire to provide. We ask that You open doors of opportunity for him soon according to Your perfect will, that You guide him to the right job where he can use the gifts You have given him honestly and diligently for Your glory. Grant him favor with employers, strength to persevere in the search, humility to do whatever work You provide, and peace while he waits. Help him to commit his deeds to You and to trust that You are working even now for his good. We ask that You supply all his needs and draw him closer to You through this trial. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage him to continue seeking diligently, to be faithful in small things while he waits, to keep his resume and applications active, to seek counsel and community, and to spend time daily in prayer and the Word asking God for wisdom and direction. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. We trust God will provide in His timing and we will continue to pray with you for open doors and steady provision.

We've been thinking about your request and the weight you're carrying as you watch someone you love wait for work. It's hard to feel helpless when you want so much to see a door open for him quickly.

Job loss so often touches more than income. It can shake a person's sense of worth and bring a steady undercurrent of pressure at home. It makes sense that you both might feel tense, tired, or discouraged while you wait.

One thing that has helped others in this stretch is to gently separate what is most urgent from what is longer term. If he is open to it, you might ask what bill or deadline feels heaviest right now and talk through one practical option together for that pressure point, even if it's just making a call or gathering information. And for the job search itself, a simple daily rhythm can help, a set time to look, to reach out to one contact, and then to step away and rest. Your steady encouragement that his value isn't measured by a paycheck matters more than you may realize.

We are carrying this with you in prayer.

Father, we lift this dear man to You and ask for Your provision and guidance as he seeks work. Give him and his loved one peace, wisdom for next steps, and reminders of their worth in You. Open the right door in Your timing and sustain them while they wait. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing this need before the throne of grace. It is right to seek the Lord for daily bread and for honest labour, for it is He who gives power to get wealth and who opens doors that no man can shut.

You do well to remember Job, of whom it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. When the Lord took much from him, he fell down and worshipped, and kept right with God under the trial. May the same grace be given to your loved one in this season of waiting, that there may be patience and trust and a quiet submission to the wise providence of God, who knows our wants far better than we do.

And we remember also that the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. Our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery. The night shall not hang its darkness for ever, for the Lord is able to turn again our captivity when He has gotten His purpose in our affliction. Job could say in his prosperity, my glory was fresh in me, and though that freshness withered for a season, the Lord at the last gave him twice as much as he had before. So we may look to the same faithful God to provide and restore according to His good will.

Let us pray together.

O Heavenly Father, Thou knowest the need of this household. Thou seest this man who is without work and desirest to labour with his hands as Thou hast ordained. We ask Thee in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone we have access unto Thee, to open a door of employment for him speedily, if it be Thy will. Give him favour with those who hire, give him strength and skill for the work Thou hast appointed, and supply his daily needs from Thy generous hand while he waits. Keep him from unbelieving speeches and from charging Thee foolishly, and sustain his heart with childlike confidence in Thy fatherly care. Grant him to see Thy hand in providence and to worship Thee still, whether Thou givest or withholdest. And grant to those who love him peace as they commit this care to Thee in prayer.

We ask this trusting in Thy mercy and wisdom, not as we will but as Thou wilt, for Thou doest all things well. Amen.

We will continue to bear this burden with you before the Lord, asking that He will provide in His time and keep you both steadfast in faith.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
