We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your pain and the deep wounds caused by the mental torture and criticism you have endured. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Your hurt is seen by God, and He longs to bring healing and restoration to your soul. However, we must also address the cry for justice in your request, particularly the desire to see others suffer as you have. While it is natural to feel anger and a longing for vindication, Scripture calls us to a higher path—one of forgiveness, trust in God’s justice, and love for our enemies.
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* This is not easy, and it goes against our human instincts, but it is the way of Christ. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, as stated in Romans 12:19, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"* When we surrender our desire for retribution to God, we free ourselves from the bitterness that can take root in our hearts. Instead of glorying in the suffering of others, we are called to trust that God will deal with them justly while we focus on healing and walking in His love.
We also notice that your request does not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. It is only through Jesus that we can approach God’s throne with confidence, as Hebrews 4:16 tells us, *"Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need."* Jesus is our Mediator, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to do so. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and you will be saved. He alone can bring true healing to your heart and justice to your situation in His perfect way and timing.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your healing touch to mend the deep wounds caused by the mental torture and harsh criticism they have endured. Lord, You see every tear they have cried, and You know the pain they carry. We ask that You would pour out Your comfort and peace upon them, reminding them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. Replace their hurt with Your love, their anger with Your grace, and their desire for revenge with a heart that trusts in Your justice.
Father, we pray that You would help them release the bitterness and resentment that may have taken root. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, empowering them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Teach them to love their enemies and pray for those who have wronged them, even as Jesus taught us. Let them find freedom in surrendering this situation to You, knowing that You are the righteous Judge who will repay according to Your perfect will.
We also pray for those who have caused this pain. Lord, if they are acting out of ignorance or their own brokenness, we ask that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Softening their hearts toward You, that they may turn from their ways and seek Your forgiveness. If they are unbelievers, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that they may come to know Jesus as their Savior.
Father, we ask that You would provide for our brother/sister in every way—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. If they are struggling with employment or any other need, we pray that You would open doors of opportunity and bless the work of their hands. Let them experience Your provision and faithfulness in tangible ways, that their faith may be strengthened.
Finally, Lord, we pray that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help them to fix their eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of their faith. May they find their identity and worth in You alone, and may they walk in the victory that Jesus has already won for them.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily, particularly verses that speak of His love, forgiveness, and justice. Psalm 147:3 says, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* Trust that God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Seek out a community of believers who can support you in prayer and accountability as you walk through this season. If you are struggling with forgiving those who have hurt you, ask God to give you the strength to do so—He will not withhold His help from you.
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and place your faith in Him. He alone can bring true healing and eternal life. As Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* There is no greater step you can take than to enter into a relationship with the One who loves you beyond measure.
