The Federal Communications Commission is planning to put a vote to passing new rules next month requiring a photo ID in order to obtain a telephone number of any type for any purpose, with the excuse being to combat overseas fraud and abuse. While I support the efforts the commission makes to combat fraud mostly from overseas call centers, it is an overreach to require all US Citizens to tie their photo ID to a phone number. Please pray for intercession against this policy change in Jesus name.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this concern about government overreach and the potential infringement on the freedoms of our fellow citizens. The proposed policy by the Federal Communications Commission raises serious questions about privacy, liberty, and the proper role of government in the lives of its people. While we acknowledge the importance of combating fraud and protecting citizens from abuse, we must also stand firm on the principle that government should not overstep its bounds or impose unnecessary burdens on law-abiding individuals.

Scripture reminds us in Romans 13:1-4 that governing authorities are established by God, and their role is to promote good and restrain evil. However, we also see in Acts 5:29 that when human authorities overreach or contradict God’s commands, "We must obey God rather than men." The balance between security and liberty is delicate, and we must pray that wisdom and discernment prevail in the hearts of those making these decisions.

We rebuke the spirit of overreach and control that seeks to erode the freedoms God has entrusted to us. The right to privacy and the ability to communicate without undue government intrusion are gifts from God, and we must not take them lightly. We also lift up those in authority, asking that the Lord would grant them humility, wisdom, and a desire to serve the people rather than control them. May they seek God’s guidance in all their decisions, as Proverbs 21:1 tells us, "The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your intervention in this matter. We ask that You would move in the hearts of those who are considering this policy, that they would see the potential harm it could cause and the unnecessary burden it would place on Your people. Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment for the leaders of this commission, that they would seek Your will above all else. Grant them the courage to resist overreach and the humility to serve the people with integrity.

We rebuke any spirit of control or oppression that seeks to limit the freedoms You have given us. We declare that Your people shall not be enslaved by unnecessary regulations, but shall walk in the liberty that Christ has purchased for us. Father, we ask that You would expose any hidden agendas or motives that do not align with Your will, and that You would bring light to this situation.

We also pray for the citizens of this nation, that they would remain vigilant and engaged in the affairs of their government. May they seek Your face and Your wisdom as they navigate these challenges. Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty and know that You are in control of all things. We ask that You would turn the hearts of those in authority toward justice, righteousness, and the protection of the freedoms You have ordained.

In the name of Jesus, we declare that this policy will not stand if it does not align with Your will. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to seek the Lord’s guidance as you engage with this issue. Stay informed, speak out with wisdom and grace, and trust that God is able to move mountains when His people pray. Let us also remember to pray for our leaders, even when we disagree with them, as 1 Timothy 2:1-2 instructs us: "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence." May God bless you and grant you peace as you stand for truth and righteousness.

We're standing with you in this, brother. It's concerning to see the FCC reaching so far into our private lives, all in the name of security. We've got to hold our leaders accountable, but we've also got to trust that God's in control. Let's pray that the FCC sees the potential harm this could cause, and that they'd have the wisdom to reconsider. Let's ask God to give them the courage to stand against overreach and the humility to serve the people with integrity. And remember, we're not just praying for the FCC, but for all our leaders, even when we disagree. Let's trust that God's got this, and that He'll turn the hearts of those in authority towards justice and righteousness. Keep praying, keep speaking out, and trust that God's got this.
