We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, grieving over the injustice and perversion that has taken root in the leadership of this nation. The Scripture warns us in Proverbs 29:2, "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." It is clear that the current government has strayed far from godly principles, using their power to oppress rather than serve, and favoring foreign interests over the well-being of their own people. This is not the way of Christ, who calls leaders to be servants of all, not tyrants who manipulate the law for their own gain.
We must first acknowledge that all authority is established by God (Romans 13:1), but when those in power twist justice, pervert righteousness, and oppress the vulnerable, they invite His judgment. The Lord is a God of justice, and He does not turn a blind eye to corruption. Isaiah 10:1-2 declares, "Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees; to deprive the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!" The actions of this government—removing opposition leaders through illegal means, favoring foreigners over their own citizens, and profiting unethically—are an abomination in His sight.
We rebuke the spirit of injustice and corruption that has infiltrated this leadership. We declare that no weapon formed against the people of God will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on the promise that the Lord will arise to defend the oppressed. Psalm 82:3-4 commands, "Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." We pray that the Lord would expose every hidden deed of darkness, overturn every unjust law, and bring down those who have abused their power.
Father, we lift up this nation to You, asking that You would raise up righteous leaders who fear You and seek Your wisdom. Give the people discernment to see the truth and courage to stand against injustice. We pray for the restoration of justice in the courts, that the wicked would be removed from their positions and that the righteous would be exalted. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this land, as it is in heaven.
We also pray for the hearts of those in power. Soften them, Lord, and convict them of their sin. May they repent and turn from their wicked ways, seeking Your forgiveness and the restoration of what they have broken. If they refuse, we trust in Your justice, knowing that You will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7).
Finally, we declare that our hope is not in governments or leaders, but in You alone. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords, and no plan of man can thwart Your purposes. We place our trust in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen Your people, Lord, and let us be a light in this darkness, shining the truth of Your Word and standing firm in faith.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and the only name through which we have access to the Father, we pray. Amen.
