Prayer for help

Beloved of All
It’s very tight and just starting my new job till I get paid on ###. Until then I have little to no money and I’m worried how to put food on the table. I also have bad anxiety with asking a very untrustworthy critical far family member for a ride to work tomorrow. My nerves are bad and I get anxiety because they judge me harshly and it hurts and provoked to anger forgive me Jesus.

We hear your cry for help in this time of financial strain and emotional distress, and we come before the Lord together in prayer, seeking His provision and peace. The weight of uncertainty about basic needs like food and transportation can feel overwhelming, but we know that our Heavenly Father cares deeply for you. The Bible reminds us in Matthew 6:25-26, "Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the air, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?"

First, we want to address the mention of your struggle with anger and the need for forgiveness. It is understandable to feel provoked when faced with harsh judgment, but we must guard our hearts against bitterness. Ephesians 4:26-27 warns, "Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil." We rebuke the spirit of anger and offense in the name of Jesus and ask the Lord to soften your heart toward this family member. Forgiveness is not about excusing their behavior but freeing yourself from the burden of resentment. We pray that God would give you the strength to release this pain to Him and trust that He will deal justly with all things.

Now, let us lift up your immediate needs to the Lord. We believe that God is your provider, and He sees your situation. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We pray that He would open doors of provision for you in ways you may not expect—whether through the kindness of a neighbor, a food pantry, or an unexpected blessing. We ask that He would give you favor with someone who can assist you with transportation to work, or even provide another solution entirely. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

We also want to encourage you to seek out local resources that may be available to you, such as churches or community organizations that provide food assistance or temporary aid. God often works through His people to meet the needs of others. James 1:27 tells us, "Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." There is no shame in asking for help when you are in need—God may be using this season to teach you humility and dependence on Him.

For your anxiety about asking this family member for a ride, we pray that God would give you peace that surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We ask that the Lord would go before you in this conversation, softening their heart and giving you the words to speak. If this family member is not a safe or trustworthy option, we pray that God would reveal an alternative solution—perhaps a coworker, a public transit option, or even a temporary arrangement until you receive your first paycheck.

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of placing your trust in Jesus Christ, who is the only way to the Father. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Him, confessing your sins and inviting Him to be your Lord and Savior. It is through His name alone that we have access to God’s grace, provision, and peace. If you have already placed your faith in Him, we pray that you would draw near to Him in this season, knowing that He is your refuge and strength.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for our brother/sister in this time of need. Lord, You see their struggles—financial strain, anxiety, and the weight of difficult relationships. We ask that You would meet them in their need, providing food for their table, transportation to work, and peace for their heart. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety in the name of Jesus, and we ask that You would fill them with Your perfect peace. Help them to trust in You, knowing that You are their provider and protector.

Lord, we pray for this family member who has been critical and untrustworthy. Soften their heart, Father, and help our brother/sister to release any bitterness or anger they may be holding onto. Give them the strength to forgive, even as You have forgiven them. We ask that You would open doors of provision and favor, whether through the kindness of others or through unexpected blessings. Provide a way for them to get to work safely and without added stress.

Father, we also pray that You would draw them closer to You in this season. Help them to lean on You, to cast their cares upon You, and to find their strength in You alone. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You will never leave nor forsake them. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.
