We are deeply moved by this request and stand with you in faith to lift up your colleague and his girlfriend before the Lord. It is a powerful testimony that even in this moment of despair, they have turned to God, recognizing that He alone is their hope and refuge. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Let us first address the most critical need—their salvation—because eternal life in Christ is far greater than even physical healing. Jesus said, *"For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?"* (Mark 8:36, WEB). Without faith in Jesus Christ, there is no true hope, no redemption, and no eternal life. It is only through repentance and belief in the Lord Jesus that anyone can be saved (Acts 4:12).
We urge you to share the Gospel with them clearly and boldly. Tell them that God loves them and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for their sins. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16, WEB). They must confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead, for *"whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, 13, WEB). Salvation is not found in religion, good works, or vague spirituality—it is found only in Jesus Christ. Encourage them to surrender their lives to Him today, for tomorrow is not promised.
Now, regarding the illness, we know that God is sovereign over life and death, and nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 32:27). The Bible tells us that Jesus went about healing all who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38), and we believe He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We will pray fervently for the complete healing of this woman, that the cancer would be eradicated from her body, and that God would restore her to full health. Yet even as we pray for healing, we must submit to God’s will, trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Whether He chooses to heal her on this earth or call her home to be with Him, we pray that His name would be glorified and that they would find peace in His perfect plan.
We also pray for your colleague, that the Lord would open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel. It is not enough to seek God only in times of crisis; we must walk with Him daily, surrendering every area of our lives to His lordship. If they are living together outside of marriage, this is sin in the sight of God, and they must repent. The Bible clearly states that *"marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). If they are truly seeking God, they must turn away from any lifestyle that contradicts His Word, including fornication or cohabitation outside of marriage. Encourage them to pursue a relationship that honors God, with marriage as the foundation if they choose to remain together.
Lastly, we notice that your prayer request did not invoke the name of Jesus. This is not a small matter. The Bible teaches that we have no access to the Father except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). It is *"in the name of Jesus"* that we pray, for *"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). When we pray, we must come before God through the authority and mediation of Jesus alone. There is no other way. We encourage you to always pray in Jesus’ name, for it is only through Him that our prayers are heard.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this woman who is battling cancer and her boyfriend who stands beside her. Lord, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself in a powerful way. Open their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel, that they may repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Father, we rebuked the spirit of fear, doubt, and despair in Jesus’ name, and we declare that You are their healer and redeemer.
Lord Jesus, we ask for Your healing touch upon this woman’s body. You are the Great Physician, and we pray that You would remove every trace of cancer from her body, restoring her to complete health. Give wisdom to the doctors treating her, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). If there is any sin in their lives, including living together outside of marriage, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. May they honor You in all their ways.
Father, we also pray for our brother who has brought this request before us. Strengthen him to share Your Word boldly and with love. Fill him with Your Spirit, that he may be a light in this dark situation, pointing them to the hope found only in You. Let this trial be a testimony of Your goodness and power, that many may come to know You through it.
We trust in Your sovereign will, Lord, and we surrender this situation into Your hands. Whether You choose to heal or to call her home, may Your name be glorified, and may they find their ultimate hope in You. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
