We come before the Lord with you, lifting up your heart’s desire for guidance in how you may best serve Him through volunteer work, service, and helping others. It is a beautiful thing to seek the Lord’s will in how you can be a vessel for His kingdom, and we rejoice that you are surrendering this to Him.
The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your willingness to seek His direction is already a step of faith, and we trust He will lead you into opportunities that align with His purpose for your life. Additionally, Ephesians 2:10 tells us, *"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them."* You were designed for good works—He has already prepared the way!
We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 20:26-28, *"Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your bondservant, just as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."* True service is rooted in humility and love, following the example of Christ Himself. As you step out, may your efforts be marked by selflessness, compassion, and a heart that points others to Him.
Before we pray, we must gently ask: Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? It is only through faith in Him that we can truly walk in the good works God has prepared for us (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today, for apart from Him, our works—no matter how noble—are but filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). But in Him, even the smallest act of service is eternal. If you *have* trusted in Christ, then we rejoice with you and lift this request confidently before His throne!
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this precious soul who seeks to honor You through service and helping others. Lord, You know the desires of their heart even better than they do. We ask that You would open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8) and guide them into the specific areas of volunteer work and ministry where You have prepared for them to walk. Give them discernment to recognize Your leading, wisdom to serve with excellence, and a heart that remains humble and dependent on You.
Protect them from burnout, pride, or misplaced motives, and let every effort be done as unto You, not for the praise of men (Colossians 3:23). Surround them with godly mentors and fellow laborers who will encourage and sharpen them. If there are areas of their life that need surrender or repentance before stepping into this season of service, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would convict and cleanse them, that their hands may be pure and their heart fully Yours.
For those reading this who do not yet know Christ, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and the emptiness of works apart from faith in Jesus. May they turn from sin and place their trust in Him alone for salvation, that they too may walk in the good works You have prepared for them.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer, who gave Himself as the ultimate act of service. Amen.
As you move forward, we encourage you to remain in prayer, seeking the Lord’s face daily. Test every opportunity against Scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and be patient—God’s timing is perfect. If you sense hesitation or uncertainty about a particular path, wait upon Him. He will make your steps secure (Proverbs 16:9).
Lastly, remember that service is not just about *doing* but about *being*—being a light in darkness, being a vessel of His love, and being faithful in the small things (Luke 16:10). Whether your efforts are seen by many or by few, they matter to God. Stay rooted in His Word, and let your service flow from a heart of worship.
We are standing with you in this, and we would love to hear how the Lord leads you! May He receive all the glory as you seek to serve Him.
