hi all. i have been on annual leave for the past week. have spent the time with family who went around here to visit me. they have now gone home. now im feeling homesick and feel so burnout going back to work :( can i request for some prayer that i be reminded this is one of the prayers i used to pray and now that i have it, i just want to not forget the purpose of me being here? :( im dreading going back to work but i cannot not go back.

We hear your heart, dear one, and we lift you up before the Lord with compassion. The transition from restful time with loved ones back into the demands of work can indeed stir up weariness and longing for home. Yet we know that God has placed you where you are for a purpose, and we stand with you in prayer that He would renew your sense of calling and joy in this season.

The Word reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Even when the tasks feel heavy or the environment challenging, your labor is ultimately an act of worship to the One who sustains you. We also take comfort in Matthew 11:28, where Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." He does not leave you to carry this burden alone.

We rebuke the spirit of burnout and homesickness in Jesus' name. These feelings, while real, do not have to define your perspective or drain your strength. Instead, we pray that the Lord would fill you with fresh vision for why He has you in this place, whether to be a light to coworkers, to provide for your needs, or to grow in perseverance and trust. Let us also remember that our true home is not in this world but with Christ (John 14:2-3), and He is with you in every moment, even the difficult ones.

Father God, we come before You on behalf of our sister/brother who is feeling the weight of returning to work. We ask that You would go before them and prepare their heart for this next season. Remind them of the purpose You have for them, whether in their workplace, their community, or their personal growth. Lord, we pray against the enemy’s lies that seek to steal their joy and make them dread their responsibilities. Instead, fill them with Your peace and the assurance that You are their Provider, their Strength, and their Reward.

We ask that You would refresh their spirit each morning with Your presence and give them a renewed sense of calling in their work. Help them to see their labor as an offering to You, not just a means to an end. Surround them with Your grace, and let them feel Your nearness even in the midst of busyness. We also pray for moments of rest and connection with You throughout the day, that they may be sustained by Your love.

Lord, if there are areas of their work or attitude that need adjustment, whether in their heart toward their job, their relationships with coworkers, or their reliance on You, we ask that You would reveal those things gently and lead them into greater alignment with Your will. Give them wisdom to set healthy boundaries and the courage to seek You first in all things.

We declare that burnout and homesickness will not have the final say in their life. Instead, we speak Your promises of strength, purpose, and hope over them. May they walk in the confidence that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28), even when the path feels uncertain.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to the truth that God has not forgotten you in this season. Even when the days feel long or the work feels meaningless, He is using every moment to shape you and draw you closer to Him. Consider starting your day with a simple prayer of surrender, asking the Lord to help you see your work through His eyes. You might also find it helpful to listen to worship music or a podcast that points you back to God’s Word during your commute or breaks. Remember, you are not alone, He is with you, and so are we.

We ache with you in that post-holiday letdown, the ache of waving goodbye to family and walking back into an empty quiet. It’s draining even before the alarm goes off, and we’re truly sorry you’re carrying that weight right now. Thank you for reaching out.

It’s actually beautiful that you remember the prayers you once prayed for this season. That desire not to forget the purpose is already a flicker of God’s presence in your tired heart. Purpose hasn’t vanished; it’s just gotten buried under the homesickness and the dread. Your job wasn’t an accident, God placed you there for reasons that remain real, even when your feelings have shifted. Those people you work with, the tasks you do, the steadiness you bring: none of that is small to Him. One of the most grounding things we’ve seen is to simply come back to work on the first day and quietly ask, “Father, show me one small thing You’d have me do well today, just for You.” That one thing can anchor a whole week.

A single practical step might help: before you return, take ten minutes to write down what you originally prayed for, the purpose you wanted to hold onto. Then tuck that note where you’ll see it on your first morning back. Not as a chore to grind through, but as a reminder that you’re there on assignment.

Lord Jesus, this one is worn out and missing home. Meet them in that hollow feeling and be their true home right now. Give them deep, quiet strength for the return to work. Rekindle a clear sense of why You have them there, not a performance, but a quiet trust that You are using their ordinary days for good. Guard them from despair and fill the lonely spaces with Your nearness. In Your name we ask.

The ache of an empty room after beloved faces have departed, I know it well, and so does your Lord. You hear the echo of a song your heart once sang, and now the silence makes you sick with longing. But do you see what this homesickness is meant to teach you? It is the cry of a soul that has tasted something of home and cannot be content with lesser things. You miss your family because you were made for a fellowship that no distance can ultimately sever; you feel the weariness of return because you were not designed for toil that has no end in itself. Let this very pang lift your eyes higher. You are a stranger here, and the song of the true Jerusalem, your happy home, stirs a sweet grief in you. Do not despise it. Let it remind you that Christ is the home of the heart, and in Him you have One who never departs.

Now to your work. You dread it, yet you know you cannot shirk it. That dread is not a sign God has abandoned the field, but that a battle must be fought within you before you rise to labor. The Spirit does not work in us to lull us into sloth; where He works, He makes men work. He has answered the prayer you once prayed, He led you to this place, this post, this daily round. And now that He has given it, will you forget the purpose of it? The work is not yours alone; it is the work of Him who sent you. It is not a mere getting of wages, not a grinding away of days until the grave. No, the very tedium and weariness become a sacred gymnasium where you labor and strive according to His mighty working within you. Every honest task performed as unto the Master is a stitch in that garment of sanctification the Spirit weaves.

You say you are burned out. True enough, the cistern of natural strength runs dry. But the work to which you return is not less holy for being hard. Did Christ shrink from His appointed labor because the conflict was terrible? He finished what was given Him, and His finished work is now the very rest of your soul. Lean wholly upon that, you are complete in Him. Yet because you are complete, you are now freed to spend and be spent for others. Personal, diligent, two-handed work for God is the daily sacrifice of a grateful heart. You must work the works of Him who sent you while it is day. The night is coming when no man can work. Let that brief, swift-approaching night quicken your hands today.

Do not imagine your labor is a chain; it is a stewardship. God has a single, unchanging purpose in all His providences, and your desk or counter or classroom is no haphazard corner. He placed you there with a design that cannot be turned aside. Pray, then, not merely for the removal of dread, but for the establishing of the work of your hands. Ask Him to let His own work appear to you through the fog of fatigue. When you rise and go back, go not as a drudge but as a sent servant. The Master who healed the crooked woman and enabled the impotent man to carry his bed on the Sabbath, He can straighten your drooping spirit and make this very day a Sabbath-offering of grateful duty. Cast yourself with all your weariness upon Him, and then rise to feed His sheep, even there.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
