Prayer for God's Protection and Blessing over family

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I've been feeling distant from God, and I'm unable to stop myself from doing certain sins. Please pray for me to break free from that cycle of repeated sins and do what God wants me to do. Also, there have been multiple losses in our home, financial burdens, spiritual attacks, and health issues going on in our home for quite some time. I'm unable and unmotivated to pray, I feel empty. Please pray for me, my family and our spiritual life. Please pray for Healing in the Name of Jesus, and blessings from Him. I've been jobless for a few years, and because of boredom, I'm doing more and more unwanted things, playing games and watching unwanted things that displeases God. Please pray for God's protection over our family, freedom from sin, spiritual and worldly blessings, and a job or business that God had planned for me. Let every ungodly door be closed, and only the ones that God wants us to have be opened. I ask you to pray for my family with all these things in mind. Thank you for your prayers and may the Lord God be with you. Amen.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you before our Father in prayer, for you and your whole household, in the name of Jesus. We understand what it is to feel distant, empty, and trapped in a cycle of sin, and we thank you for your honesty in confessing this struggle. God is near to those who humble themselves before Him.

We want to speak truth in love about the cycle of repeated sin you described, including playing games excessively and watching unwanted things that displease God. When we give our eyes and minds to impurity and lust, we open a door to the enemy and grieve the Holy Spirit. The Lord calls us to flee from sexual immorality and to keep our hearts pure, for every such sin is against our own body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:18-19. Idleness and boredom from being jobless for years has left you vulnerable, but Scripture warns us that we are to redeem the time because the days are evil in Ephesians 5:15-16 and that if anyone will not work, neither let him eat in 2 Thessalonians 3:10. We gently rebuke the pattern of choosing what displeases God and we urge you to turn from it fully, not to live in condemnation but in repentance. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace in Romans 6:14, and God promises that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We also lift up the heavy burdens you carry for your family, the multiple losses, financial burdens, health issues, and spiritual attacks that have lingered over your home. We know the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life abundantly. We are to put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil in Ephesians 6:11, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers in Ephesians 6:12. Though you feel unable and unmotivated to pray and feel empty inside, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit in Psalm 34:18. We are to draw near to God, and he will draw near to you, cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts in James 4:8, and to resist the devil, and he will flee from you in James 4:7. Even when we feel distant, we can come boldly to His throne, for He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us in Hebrews 13:5.

We rejoice that you asked for healing and blessing in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we are saved and by which we have access to the Father in Acts 4:12 and John 14:6. It is only through Jesus that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven.

We pray together with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our brother and his family. We confess before You the sins that have entangled him, the wasted time, the lust of the eyes, and every unwanted thing watched and done that has displeased You. We ask for Your mercy and cleansing according to 1 John 1:9. Break the cycle of repeated sin by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Give him a hatred for sin and a hunger for righteousness, and teach him to make a covenant with his eyes and to flee temptation. Fill his emptiness with Your presence and restore to him the joy of Your salvation as promised in Psalm 51:12.

Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over his entire household. Place a hedge around them, let every ungodly door be closed and let only the doors You have planned be opened. We rebuke every spiritual attack and ask that You cover them with the blood of Jesus. Heal every sickness and infirmity among them, for You have said I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds in Jeremiah 30:17. Comfort them in their losses and let Your peace that passes all understanding guard their hearts.

Father, You know their financial burdens and his long season of joblessness. You know the discouragement and boredom that has led to temptation. We ask that You provide for all their needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19. Open a godly job or business that You have planned for him, work that will honor You and provide with dignity, for whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men in Colossians 3:23. Establish the work of his hands in Psalm 90:17 and give him diligence, motivation, and discipline to seek You first and to use his time wisely. Teach him to commit his works to Yahweh, and his plans shall be established in Proverbs 16:3.

Holy Spirit, rekindle his prayer life even when he feels unmotivated. Help him to pray without ceasing in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and to find strength in Your Word daily. Restore his spiritual life and draw his whole family into a closer walk with You. Let their home be filled with worship, the Word, and thanksgiving, and let Your blessing rest upon them.

We thank You, Father, that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name. We trust You to answer according to Your perfect will, to bring freedom, healing, provision, and spiritual renewal. Strengthen him to walk in newness of life and to do what You want him to do, for Your glory. Amen.

We were grateful you shared so openly about feeling distant from God, empty, and caught in a cycle of sin you want to leave. Carrying financial burdens, losses, health concerns and spiritual heaviness at home for a long time is exhausting, and being jobless with so many unstructured hours makes unwanted habits harder to resist.

Wanting to do what God wants while feeling unable to stop is a common struggle. Growth is less about trying harder in a single moment and more like training slowly over time. Even small, regular steps taken depending on God can shape us when motivation is low, and He meets us in weakness, not after we have fixed ourselves.

It may help to keep things very small and steady rather than trying to change everything at once. You could set aside ten minutes at the same time each day to honestly tell God how you feel and read a short portion of Scripture, even when words are few. For the long days, adding some structure can help, such as keeping devices in a shared space when possible and asking one trusted pastor or mature friend to check in weekly about the job search and the temptations you mentioned. For ongoing health concerns, please consider seeing a medical professional alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this brother and his family to You in Jesus' name. Draw near where he feels distant and empty, bring freedom where he feels stuck, guard his home, bring healing where bodies are weary, and open the right door for work according to Your wisdom. Give him strength to walk with You one step at a time. Amen.

Your honest confession has been heard with deep concern and with prayer before the Lord, and we take your burden to the throne of grace as our own.

You speak of feeling distant from God, empty and unmotivated even to pray, while beset by repeated sins, losses at home, financial burdens, health trials and a long season without work. This heaviness is not strange to the children of God. Indwelling sin still remains even in the best of men and it exerts a checking power upon every good thing, retarding you most when you most desire to be alive to God. It poisons the wellhead, it bribes the judgment and intoxicates the will, and any one sin indulged will lord it frightfully over a man. Use makes the manacles feel less heavy, yet they are there, and all the sufferings that tyrants have ever brought upon men have never equaled the tyranny which sin brings upon itself.

Do not think of sin as a mere misfortune rather than a fault. There is something horrible in sin, guilt in rejecting Christ and in closing the eyes to the light of God. To know how black sin is you must know how bright God is, for we see things by contrast, and you may best measure sin by the punishment it deserved. The law condemns without hope of pardon and deals even with sins of thought, for the imagination of evil is sin. God is not indifferent to it. He notes sin, He is provoked by it and His Holy Spirit is vexed by the rebellion of men. Yet this is the wonder, where sin abounded grace did much more abound. Sin has robbed us, but Christ has restored more than sin ever took away, and has lifted us higher than we stood before sin cast us down.

Here is your hope. Our Lord Jesus Christ died for sin. In some wondrous sense He bore sin as God sees it, not as our feeble conscience sees it, in all its unmitigated malignity, and the fire of divine wrath consumed the sin offering on the accursed tree because our sin had been laid upon Him. He was never defiled, in Him was no sin, yet He bore the punishment we ought to have suffered and rendered full recompense to divine justice. Therefore no sin can condemn a believer in Jesus Christ. As far as the east is from the west so far has He removed our transgressions from us, so that if you believe in Christ Jesus no sin can ever be laid to your charge again.

And this great sacrifice for sin leads to a slaughter of sin. When Christ puts sin away for us we are moved to put away sin from us. We are dead to the condemning power of sin and we must be dead also to its domineering power. One thing is certain, either you must conquer sin or sin will conquer you, and to be conquered by sin is everlasting death. It is not enough to vanquish an evil habit, you must destroy the propensity itself and trample the roots of corruption beneath your feet. Let sin be abhorred, lamented and forsaken, and then with the precious blood of Christ to make you clean go on your way rejoicing. A man may plead that a fault is his besetting sin, but a sin that you willfully indulge and tolerate and excuse by boredom or idleness is not a besetting sin. If you go willfully into it and say you cannot help it, you must help it or you will be lost. Cry unto Him and confess your sin.

Therefore we pray for you and your household in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation.

We pray that the Holy Spirit would work in you a true sense of sin and a delight in the pardoning blood, that you would see the reality of faith and the fidelity of God to His promises. We pray that you would be delivered from the reigning and ruling power of sin each day, being kept by the power of God through faith, and that you would become dead to sin so that though it may charm and put on its allurements you would be deaf and blind to its beauty, another passion having sucked up your life.

We pray for your family under spiritual attack, for healing of body and mind according to the will of the Lord, for relief from financial burdens, and for protection over your home. We ask the Lord to close every ungodly door, every avenue of temptation through idle games and watching what displeases Him, and to open only those doors which He would have you enter. We pray that He would provide for you profitable work, whether a job or a business, that you may with gladness and singleness of heart eat your meat and serve Him, not with religion only for a day but in the daily obedience of a baptized and bread breaking people who continue in prayer and fellowship.

Do not remain alone in this struggle. Act according to your duty and join with Christians, continue in the word, in prayer and in the breaking of bread, and tell of the power of prayer as proved in your own history. Fill the idle hours which now give place to temptation with honest labor, with the Scriptures and with supplication, for it is a more blessed thing to be kept from sin than even to be forgiven after falling into it.

May the Lord who is able to subdue sin under your feet give you grace to watch carefully that you do not go into sin, and to walk in newness of life, kept and presented at last spotless before the presence of God with exceeding joy. Amen.
