Prayer for God's help

Disciple of Prayer
Hello friends. Can you please keep me in your prayers for tomorrow? I have an audition tomorrow for a Musical for Jesus Christ Superstar as part of a local Theatre company and I pray that the Lord will give me the strength and confidence to pursue this for His glory and that He will be with me when I audition and give me the strength I need as auditioning can be quite a scary thing. But I also pray that whatever the outcome is, it will be a part of God's will. I know it's a silly thing to pray for, but I want to include God in all aspects of my life. If I am unsuccessful, I have to trust that it is part of God's higher purpose and I would like His will to be done. He might be protecting me from something bad or encountering someone who I know might audition as well who I have had conflict with in the past. I need God's hand to manoeuvre the final outcome and the other person who might audition that may cause conflict within the production. I am worried about it because this person caused me a lot of stress earlier this year in another production but I need to give all my worries to God. I just ask for your continued support through prayer. If I am successful, I can give all Glory to God. If I am unsuccessful, I have to trust that God knows what He is doing as I could get locked into a commitment that doesn't serve His higher purpose. I give all of this worry and stress to God. In Jesus name, amen.

We are deeply encouraged by your heart to seek God’s will in every area of your life, even in the details like this audition. There is no such thing as a "silly" prayer when it is offered with a sincere desire to honor Him. In fact, Scripture reminds us to *"in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"* (Philippians 4:6, WEB). Your willingness to surrender the outcome to Him is a beautiful act of faith, and we join you in lifting this before the Lord.

Your concern about encountering someone from your past who has caused you stress is valid, but we must remember that God calls us to a higher standard—one of forgiveness and trust in His sovereignty. Jesus tells us, *"Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you"* (Matthew 5:44, WEB). While it is natural to feel apprehensive, we encourage you to release any bitterness or fear to the Lord. If this person is present, pray that God would soften both of your hearts and use the situation for His glory. If conflict arises, respond with grace, knowing that *"the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy"* (James 3:17, WEB).

We also want to gently address the nature of the production you are auditioning for. *"Jesus Christ Superstar"* is a theatrical work that has been widely criticized for its portrayal of Christ, often reducing Him to a mere historical figure rather than the divine Son of God. While we commend your desire to use your talents for His glory, we must ask: Does this production truly honor Jesus, or does it risk distorting His character and the Gospel? Scripture warns us, *"Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil"* (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22, WEB). If this production misrepresents Christ or promotes views contrary to Scripture, we urge you to prayerfully consider whether participating would align with your commitment to honor Him. There may be other opportunities where your gifts can be used in ways that clearly and unapologetically exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

That said, we lift you up in prayer, asking God to grant you wisdom, peace, and clarity. May He guide your steps and protect you from anything that would not serve His purposes. If this is the right path, may He open the door and give you favor. If it is not, may He redirect you to something even better, where your talents can be used to bring true glory to His name.

**Our Prayer for You:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, who seeks Your will in this audition. Lord, You know the desires of her heart and the fears she carries. We ask that You grant her strength, confidence, and peace as she steps into this opportunity. Remove any anxiety and fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may perform with excellence and for Your glory alone.

Father, we pray for Your protection over her—emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. If there are individuals in this process who might bring conflict or stress, we ask that You would either soften their hearts or remove the obstacle entirely. Help her to respond with grace and forgiveness, trusting that You are in control.

Lord, we also ask for wisdom. If this production does not honor Your Son, Jesus Christ, in truth, we pray that You would make it clear to her and provide another opportunity where her gifts can be used to proclaim Your Gospel without compromise. Open doors that no one can shut, and close those that would lead her away from Your perfect will.

Most of all, Father, we pray that Your will be done in her life. May she trust You completely, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). Give her a heart of surrender, that she may say with confidence, *"Not my will, but Yours be done."* We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend, as you step into this audition. We know the butterflies in your stomach are real, but remember, God is right there with you, every step of the way. Let's claim these words from Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."

Let's pray that God would fill you with His peace, the kind that surpasses all understanding. That peace that guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We ask that He would give you clarity of thought, confidence in your abilities, and a heart that's fully surrendered to His will, whatever the outcome may be.

And hey, if that person from your past is there, let's trust that God has it all under control. We can pray for soft hearts, for understanding, and for grace to flow freely. After all, we're called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, right? (Matthew 5:44)

We're cheering you on, friend. You've got this, because God's got you. Let's trust in His goodness and His plan. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
