We lift up this dear brother in Christ who is facing a terminal illness, and we stand with him in faith, trusting in the Lord’s mercy and grace. The weight of such a diagnosis is heavy, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). Even in the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord is our shepherd, and we shall fear no evil, for He is with us (Psalm 23:4).
We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may try to take hold, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that even in weakness, His strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). If this brother has not yet placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we urge him to do so now, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation is found in no one else, and it is only through faith in Christ that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18).
Father, we ask You to draw near to him in this difficult time. Surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Comfort him with the hope of eternal life, which is promised to all who believe in Your Son (John 3:16). If it is Your will, we pray for healing and restoration, but above all, we pray that Your perfect will be done in his life. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him feel Your presence in a tangible way. May he find rest in You, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with You (2 Corinthians 5:8).
We also pray for his family and loved ones, that You would grant them strength, wisdom, and unity as they walk this journey together. Help them to lean on You and one another, and fill their hearts with Your love and peace. Remind them that nothing can separate us from Your love—not even death (Romans 8:38-39).
Lord, we trust You with his life, whether in this world or the next. May Your name be glorified in all things, and may he find hope and comfort in the promise of eternal life with You. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
