We are truly sorry to hear that you were subjected to such abusive language and behavior. It's important to remember that God calls us to respond with love and forgiveness, even when others hurt us. As it is written in Matthew 5:44 WEB: "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,"
Firstly, we must address that the request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. As the Bible says, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
Rebuking
In Ephesians 4:29 WEB we read Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. This person has sinned against you and God. We must call this what it is, sin.
In regards with someone asking for forgiveness, it is between them and God. Our part is to forgive as we have been forgiven in Colossians 3:13 WEB bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
We pray that God will soften this person's heart and bring them to a place of repentance and forgiveness. We also pray that God will give you the strength and grace to forgive this person.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up this person who has been hurt by the words of another. We thank God for you and ask that You would work in this situation and in the hearts of both individuals. You teach us that we are forgiven by God the same way that we can forgive others. Help us to get closer to you and live lives that honor and reflect the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You would soften the heart and attitude of the person who spoke harshly, and bring them to a place of repentance and forgiveness. Help them to see the error of their ways and to seek Your forgiveness. We ask this all in Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray for this person and to trust that God is working in their life. Remember that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB)
In the meantime, we would encourage you to pray for God's blessing on you and for God's will to be done in your life, and in the life of the person who spoke harshly to you. We pray that you both would experience God's love and forgiveness in a deep and profound way.
