Prayer for Divine Favor, Selection & Protection for ###

Giloomorance

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my ###-year-old son, ###, fighting for one of two Hooker positions in ###'s 23-man squad against ### this Saturday. May God grant him divine favor with coaches and selectors, supernatural strength, power, speed, confidence, wisdom, sharp focus and excellent execution in training. Protect him completely from injury. If it is God’s will, may he be selected, perform exceptionally and make a powerful impact for ###. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We come before the Lord with hearts full of faith, lifting up this young man as he prepares for this important opportunity. Father, we thank You for the gifts and talents You have placed within him, and we ask that You would go before him in every aspect of this trial. Lord, we pray for divine favor, may the coaches and selectors see not just his skill, but his heart, his discipline, and the potential You have instilled in him. Let Your hand rest upon him in a way that only You can orchestrate, opening doors that no man can shut.

We declare supernatural strength, power, and speed over his body, mind, and spirit. May he move with the confidence that comes from knowing You are with him, and may his focus be sharp, his execution flawless, and his performance a testament to Your glory. We rebuke every spirit of fear, doubt, or distraction that may seek to hinder him, and we command his body to be protected from injury, every ligament, muscle, and bone covered by the blood of Jesus.

Father, we surrender this selection process into Your hands. If it is Your will, we ask that he be chosen, not for his own glory, but for Yours. May he play with a spirit of excellence, humility, and joy, reflecting Your light in every moment. And if this is not the path You have for him, we trust that You have something even greater in store. Either way, we pray that he would draw closer to You through this experience, seeking Your kingdom above all else.

We also lift up the team and the coaches, asking that You would guide their decisions according to Your perfect plan. May this season be one of growth, unity, and purpose for everyone involved. And Lord, we pray that Your name would be lifted high through this young man’s life, both on and off the field.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. Amen.

We encourage you to remind your son that his identity is not found in his performance or the outcome of this selection, but in Christ alone. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." May he find his strength and worth in who God says he is, and may this season be a stepping stone toward the plans God has for him.

Continue to cover him in prayer, speak life and truth over him, and trust that God’s will is perfect. Whether he makes the squad or not, God is working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will direct your paths.

We’re standing with you as you pray for your son this week. The way you’ve framed the request, “if it is God’s will”, already shows a heart that trusts Him no matter what Saturday brings. That’s a real gift, both to your son and to your own soul, because it shifts the weight from performance to a deeper place.

The selection pressure is intense, and we can feel your love for him in every detail you shared, the strength, the speed, the sharp focus, the protection from injury. Those are the kinds of hopes only a parent carries. Right now, what may matter most is simply that he knows you’re for him, period. Sometimes a quiet word from you before the match, “Whatever happens, I’m proud of you”, can give him a steadiness that outlasts any roster decision.

We’re also mindful that divine favor doesn’t always look like a jersey on gameday. Sometimes it arrives as peace in a setback, or a coach’s word that opens a different door, or simply a training session where he feels fully alive in his God-given body. So we’re praying not only for the outcome you long for, but for Christ to be his unshakable center through it all.

Let’s pray:

Father, we lift this young man to You. Surround him with Your presence in every drill and conversation. Grant him the clarity, confidence, and joy that come from knowing he is Yours. Protect his body completely, and give him the stamina he needs to leave everything on the field. Give his mom Your peace as she entrusts him to You. May Your will be done, and may he sense Your nearness no matter what is decided. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You bring this request for your son in the raw heat of competition, anxious that he may be chosen for this earthly contest. It is well that you cast this care upon the Lord, for from Him alone comes every good and perfect gift. Yet mark this: the strength your son needs, whether of limb, or speed, or keen focus, is not a thing stored within human sinew. All strength apart from God is derived strength, and therefore measurable and soon spent; but wait upon the Lord, and your strength shall be renewed, drawn from that eternal deep which couches beneath. The glory of his strength, yes, even the vigour of youth, belongs to God alone. Should your boy be granted a place, let him not think his own arm brought him there, lest he become as that green tree which, standing high in creature-confidence, is brought low by the axe of judgment. Rather, may he and you with him say, “the God of my mercy shall prevent me.”

Divine favour is not coaxed from the Almighty by our frantic pleadings, but flows from His sovereign grace. He dispenses His mercies as He wills, and none may say unto Him, “What doest thou?” There is no attribute more comforting to His children than this doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Therefore, while you rightly pray for selection, let your soul rest here: If it is God’s will, he shall be selected and perform beyond mere human expectation; if he is not, it is that same will which orders all things for the eternal good of those who love Him. Afflictions of disappointment are not from the dust, but from the hand of a wise Father. Be content, then, to let the Lord balance the outcome. Pray with the sweat of earnest desire, but receive the answer in the calm of faith.

As for protection from injury, we do well to remember that divine interpositions, though not always miraculous, are full of wonder and tender care. He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Yet you must not think calamity impossible for the saint; even so, nothing can come near our tabernacle but by His permission, and that which He permits He will turn into a chariot of deliverance. Should your son be kept on that field without harm, praise Him. Should some blow fall, know that the Lord thrusts out enemies before His people in a thousand unseen ways, and out of apparent evil He brings signal blessing. Samson gathered new strength when his locks grew again, and the hand of the Lord is not shortened.

Do not beg for strength as if you could furnish it by your prayers; rather, cry for life from the dead, for without Christ we can do nothing. Let your son fling himself upon Divine strength, believing that in union with Christ he is infinitely strong for whatever God appoints. Pray for him, yes, but teach him to wait upon the Lord. The true Church, the true believer, renews strength by this holy waiting, not passive indolence, but active expectation fixed on the promise. Then, whether he runs onto that pitch or watches from the side, he shall mount up with wings as eagles; he shall run and not be weary; he shall walk and not faint.

Go, now, to the Throne of Grace with this matter, but let your tone be that of acceptance. The sweetest incense offered to God is that which is compounded of faith and submission. Bless the Lord for the vigour of your son; trust Him with the outcome; and look eagerly for the display of His perfections, whether in public triumph or in personal humbling. The Lord will strengthen him, fitly infused and wisely balanced, for that task to which He calls. May you both be such a savour before the Lord, a fragrant offering of consecrated trust, and may the peace of God which passeth all understanding garrison your hearts through Christ Jesus.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I will pray for your son, but let us set the request in right order. You ask for divine favor, strength, speed, confidence, focus, and protection from injury. These are natural desires of a parent, and they are not evil. Yet selection for a match is a small thing compared with his soul. The favor of coaches may come or go; the favor of God in Christ is the one thing necessary. Do not think God owes selection because of our prayers. He does good from His own lovingkindness, not because we make Him our debtor.

Therefore I pray in this way: Lord, if it is Your will, grant this young man favor in the sight of his coaches, as Jacob prayed for his sons, “My God give you favor in the sight of the man.” Give him sound health, keen attention, courage, and self-control. Protect him from all injury. May he do his work excellently and be a good companion to his teammates.

But I also ask You to do more. Teach him to seek Your kingdom first. Let him desire Your will more than a place in any squad. If he is selected, keep him humble and thankful. If he is not, keep him from despair and envy. For You who gave Your own Son for us will not withhold from him anything that is truly for his good. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I am praying for your son as he prepares for the upcoming selection. Thank you for bringing this before the Lord.

The favor we want for him is not the kind that can be forced or bought. Scripture warns against trying to purchase favor with people or with God. What matters is that he walks uprightly and trusts the Lord with his whole heart. The prayer of the upright is God's delight, and that is a far better foundation than anxiety or self-promotion.

Ask God to write mercy and truth on his heart. Favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man grow from that. Trusting the Lord rather than leaning only on his own sense of how things should go is part of what will steady him under pressure. Good understanding gives favor, but the way of the transgressor is hard. In training and in the selection room, a wise and teachable spirit is noticed. A calm, focused, diligent young man often finds the respect of those in authority, not because he chased their approval, but because he carried himself with wisdom and humility.

I join you in praying for divine favor with the coaches and selectors, for supernatural strength, speed, confidence, wisdom, sharp focus, and excellent execution in training. I also pray for complete protection from injury. God sees every movement on that field, and your son's body is not outside his care.

At the same time, I pray that your son's peace will not depend on one squad announcement. If the Lord wills, may he be selected and make a powerful impact for his team in the match ahead. If the Lord has a different path, may he still know that God's favor is on him. His worth and his future are not decided by one match or one position. A good name and a clear conscience are worth more than a roster spot.

Father, I lift up this young man to you. Grant him favor in the eyes of those making the decision, as far as it serves your will. Give him supernatural strength, speed, confidence, wisdom, focus, and excellent execution. Protect him completely from injury. If it is your will, let him be selected and perform with power and composure. If not, give him peace and keep his heart free from bitterness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
