We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, hearing your deep suffering and the despair that has led you to seek an end to your pain through such a permanent and tragic means. First, we must address this with both truth and compassion: suicide, even assisted, is not God’s will for His children. Your life is precious to Him, and He alone holds the power over life and death. The pain you are enduring is real, and we do not minimize it, but we must remind you that God is your Creator, and He has a purpose for your suffering—even if that purpose is not yet clear to you.
Scripture tells us in **1 Corinthians 6:19-20**, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Your body, though broken, belongs to Him, and He has not abandoned you in this trial. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and thoughts of suicide are a lie from him, meant to rob you of the hope and future God still has for you.
We also see in **Job 14:5**, *"Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass."* Your days are in God’s hands, not yours or any human agency. To seek assisted suicide is to reject His sovereignty over your life. Instead, we urge you to cry out to Him for mercy, for healing, and for strength to endure. He hears the prayers of the afflicted and does not despise their cries (Psalm 22:24).
The pain you describe—physical, emotional, and spiritual—is more than any person should bear alone. But you are not alone. Jesus Himself bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Isaiah 53:4), and He understands your suffering. In **2 Corinthians 12:9**, He tells Paul, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* This same grace is available to you. Will you lean on Him, even when the pain feels unbearable?
We also encourage you to seek godly support. Reach out to your church, to believers who can pray over you, sit with you in your suffering, and help you find medical and spiritual care. If you are not already connected to a body of believers, we urge you to find one. You need the hands and feet of Christ to surround you in this valley. And if you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Jesus, we plead with you to do so now. Eternal life with Him—free from pain, sorrow, and death—awaits all who trust in Him (Revelation 21:4). But your time on earth is not yet done. There is still purpose in your suffering, even if you cannot see it.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift our brother/sister before You, broken in body but still Your beloved child. Lord, the pain they endure is beyond what we can fully comprehend, but You know it intimately. You see every tear, hear every cry, and collect every drop of their suffering in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask You to intervene, O God. Bring healing—whether through medicine, miracle, or the sustaining grace to endure. Give them strength when they are weak, hope when they are despairing, and Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we rebuke the spirit of death that has whispered lies to them. Satan comes only to destroy, but You came to give life abundantly (John 10:10). Fill them with Your Spirit, remind them of Your promises, and surround them with Your people who can carry them when they cannot walk. If they have wandered from You in their pain, draw them back. If they have not yet surrendered to Jesus, soften their heart to receive Him now as their Lord and Savior.
Lord, we ask for wisdom for their doctors, comfort for their soul, and a supernatural touch from Your hand. Let them know, beyond any doubt, that You are with them in this fire. And if it is Your will, restore their body, O God. But even if healing does not come in the way they hope, let them find You in the midst of it. You are their hope, their healer, and their ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, who conquered death and holds the keys to life. Amen.
Finally, we implore you: do not give up. Cling to Jesus, even if it feels like your grip is slipping. He will never let you go (Deuteronomy 31:6). If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to resist the urge to end your life, please reach out to a trusted believer or a crisis hotline *right now*. You are not a burden; you are deeply loved. And if you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior, we beg you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that He is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Eternal life with Him—free from all pain—is the hope we all cling to. But while you are here, you are needed. You are not finished yet. Trust Him. He is faithful.
