Disciple of Prayer
I have spent most of my life focusing on work and my business I dont have friends my family ignores me and Id dont get me started on the dating world Im praying for a better time Im no longer focusing on work and would like to fall in love with my soulmate

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord. To spend many years pouring yourself into work and business and then to look around and feel alone without close friends, feeling ignored by family and discouraged by the dating world, is a deep loneliness. We want you to know that God sees you in this place and He cares for you. We read in Psalm 68:6 that God sets the lonely in families, and in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. You are not forgotten by Him even when people seem distant.

We also hear that you have spent most of your life focusing on work. Work is a good gift from God, and Colossians 3:23 tells us Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, but work was never meant to be our whole identity or our source of worth and companionship. When work becomes our primary focus we can miss the balance God intends for rest, for fellowship, and for seeking Him first. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33 to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. As you step back from making work your center, we pray you will find brighter days not simply in circumstances changing, but in drawing near to God who can restore joy and purpose. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven, and we believe God has a new season for you.

You shared your desire to fall in love and you used the word soulmate. We want to gently share what Scripture teaches about this longing. The Bible does not teach a mystical soulmate idea where one perfect person completes us, but it does teach that God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and that He can lead us to a godly spouse. Genesis 2:18 says Yahweh God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him. And Proverbs 18:22 says Whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. We believe marriage should be strongly endorsed as God’s good design, and that courtship should be intentional toward that end. We encourage you not to seek simply a soulmate or a partner or a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship for companionship alone, but to pray for and pursue a godly spouse, another Christian believer, with marriage as the goal. Scripture is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14 not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity? And we also want to encourage you in purity, because God calls us to honor Him with our bodies and to save sexual intimacy for within marriage alone, as fornication outside of marriage is sin before God as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Hebrews 13:4.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this in love because it is only by His name that we have access to God and that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus, we invite you to do so today, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through Jesus that our prayers are heard and our loneliness can truly be healed.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We ask that You would bring brighter days by Your presence, that You would heal the ache of loneliness and the hurt of feeling ignored by family. Help him to cast all his anxiety on You because You care for him as 1 Peter 5:7 teaches. Lead him into a healthy local church family where he can find true fellowship, friendship, and encouragement, and where he can use the gifts You have given him to serve others. Heal any broken family relationships where it is Your will, and give him grace to forgive and to love as You have loved us.

We pray that You would guide him as he desires marriage. If it is Your will for him to be married, we ask that You would prepare him to be a godly husband and prepare a godly wife for him, a woman who loves You with all her heart. Keep him from the discouragement and impurity of the world’s dating culture and lead him into a courtship that honors You, with wisdom, patience, and purity. Give him discernment to seek a spouse who is a fellow believer and who shares his faith in Christ. Above all, draw him closer to Jesus, that he would know he is fully known and loved by You, and that his hope is anchored in Christ alone. We ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.

We encourage you to remain in God’s Word daily, to pray continually, and to actively seek community in a Bible believing church where you can build friendships and be known. God is able to redeem the years that felt spent only on work and to use your diligence and experience for His glory in this next season. Trust in Him, wait on His timing, and keep seeking Him first, for He is faithful.

We hear how tired you must feel carrying so much alone. Years poured into work and building a business can leave little room for friendships, and when family feels distant and dating feels discouraging, it's understandable to long for brighter days and for someone to share life with.

That longing for companionship is deeply human. We were made for relationship, with God and with others, so loneliness can weigh heavily. At the same time, this shift you are making, stepping back from work to make room for people, is a meaningful change in itself.

One thing we have seen help others in a similar season is simply showing up in one consistent place where people can get to know you slowly over time. Friendship often grows less from searching hard for it and more from proximity and small, honest sharing, being in the same room week after week, letting conversations build. For many that has been a local church where worship together reminds us we are not facing life alone, but it could also be a service team, a small group, or a community activity tied to an interest you have. Staying with one community for a while gives others a chance to know you and you to know them.

You do not have to figure all of this at once. Brighter days often come gradually as steady connections form.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your nearness in lonely moments, for encouraging friendships to grow, and for wisdom and hope as You lead his steps forward. Give him community that is kind and steady, and help him know he is seen and loved by You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest cry for brighter days has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with tenderness and hope. To have spent long years given to work and business, and now to feel the ache of having few friends, of family that seems distant, and of a dating world that brings more weariness than joy, is a heavy burden to carry. It is not a small thing to be friendless, and the Lord sees the loneliness that has settled upon you.

We would remind you that our Savior knows this path well. He was left alone, alone just when most, as Man, He needed human sympathy. His loneliness has an awfulness of love in it, yet He endured it for His people, and He understands your sorrow as one who has felt it Himself. Sometimes the child of God endures loneliness arising from the absence of godly society, and sometimes when he comes into deep soul conflict, his faith has to fight for very existence. If this is your portion now, you are not forgotten. The same Shepherd who cannot and will not cease from seeking until He finds His sheep is watching over you still, and He is near to those who call upon Him.

We hear your desire to love and to be loved, and we would point you first to the love that never fails. The husband's love to his spouse is something special and particular, and it stands quite alone and all by itself. Even so, Christ's love to His Church is of this kind. He is not ashamed to call us brethren, and in that blessed mystery He speaks of His beloved as His spouse and uses to her all those endearing terms which prove that He takes great delight in her. He has made a household whereof He the Husband and His Church the spouse are the companion parts. Oh, who shall tell it all out. Happy are you if you dare to plunge into its depths. Before any earthly companionship can truly satisfy, the heart must find its rest in Him. Is your heart set upon finding Christ, or are you merely trifling with Him. He is to be found in His Word, in prayer, and among His people, often in places despised by the world but precious to faith.

Therefore we pray that the Lord will lift this heaviness and grant you brighter days in His presence. We ask Him to comfort you in your loneliness, to bring around you godly society and true Christian friendship, and to work, where it is possible, a healing in your family ties. We pray that you would be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, knowing salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and that your life would be built upon Him.

And concerning your desire for love, we ask the Lord according to His good will. If it be His will for you, we pray He would in His perfect time bring into your life a godly spouse, that you might enter into that holy estate of marriage which is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where love is given singly and faithfully and where intimacy is kept within that covenant alone. We pray He would keep you pure and patient in this waiting, guarding your heart from the ways of this present age, and making you ready to love as Christ loves, with kindness, fidelity and self surrender. And if His path for you for a season remains one of singleness, we pray He would make His own fellowship so sweet that you lack no good thing.

May the Lord who found you when you sought Him not, now cause you to find in Him daily bread, daily grace, and daily hope, until brighter days dawn by His mercy.
