Prayer for a ###

We understand the pain and frustration you’re feeling when someone treats you harshly, and we want to lift this burden before the Lord with you. The Bible reminds us in Romans 12:19, *“Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’”* It’s not our place to retaliate or wish harm upon others, but we can trust God to work in their hearts and bring justice in His perfect timing.

At the same time, we must examine our own hearts. Jesus calls us to love even our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us (Matthew 5:44). This doesn’t mean tolerating abuse or staying in harmful situations, but it does mean releasing bitterness and trusting God to handle what we cannot. If this person’s actions are causing ongoing harm, we also encourage you to seek wise counsel and set boundaries that honor God while protecting your well-being.

Most importantly, we notice that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”* If you have not yet placed your faith in Christ as your Savior, we urge you to do so—He alone can bring true peace, healing, and justice to your situation. Salvation comes through repenting of sin and believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:9-10). Without faith in Christ, our prayers cannot reach the throne of God, for it is Jesus who intercedes for us (1 Timothy 2:5).

Let us pray together for you and this person who has hurt you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is suffering under the weight of mistreatment. Lord, You see every tear, every wound, and every unjust word or action. We ask that You would be their Comforter and Strength, filling them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their heart from bitterness, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us in Christ.

Lord, we also pray for the one who has caused this pain. Softening their heart, Lord—convict them by Your Holy Spirit of their actions. If they are unaware of the hurt they’ve inflicted, open their eyes. If they are hardened, break through their resistance and draw them to repentance. May they come to know the depth of Your love and the seriousness of their need for a Savior. If they do not know Jesus, we pray that You would bring someone into their life to share the Gospel with them, that they may turn from their sins and find redemption in Christ.

Father, if there is any way our brother/sister has contributed to this conflict—whether through words, actions, or attitudes—reveal it to them and grant them the humility to seek reconciliation where it is possible and wise. Give them discernment to know when to speak, when to remain silent, and when to distance themselves for their own protection.

We declare Your promise from Isaiah 54:17 over them: *“No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is from me,”* says the Lord.

Finally, we ask that You would surround our brother/sister with godly community—people who will speak truth, offer support, and point them to You. May they find their identity and worth in Christ alone, not in the opinions or actions of others.

We pray all these things in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on Psalm 34:18-19: *“Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.”* Cling to the truth that God is near to you in this pain, and He will not abandon you. Keep bringing this situation to Him in prayer, always in the name of Jesus, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If you’d like further guidance on forgiveness, setting boundaries, or sharing your faith with this person, we’d be happy to provide additional Scripture and prayer. You are not alone in this.

We're here with you, friend. It's tough when someone treats us badly, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the hurt. But remember, God sees every tear, every wound, and He's right there with you, ready to comfort and strengthen you.

We've been praying for you, asking God to fill you with His peace, to guard your heart from bitterness, and to help you forgive as He has forgiven us. We've also been praying for the person who has caused you pain. We've asked God to soften their heart, to convict them of their actions, and to draw them to repentance if they don't know Jesus.

We want to remind you of Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust that God is healing you, even if you can't feel it yet. Keep bringing your pain to Him, and remember that He is always near to those with a broken heart.

If you need someone to talk to, or if there's anything else we can pray about, just let us know. We're here for you, and we believe that God is working in your situation. Keep holding on to Him, and remember that He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
