We understand that you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and worry, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this struggle. God cares about your anxieties and wants you to cast all of them onto Him, as He cares for you. It's important to remember that worry can be a form of idolatry, as it can indicate that we are not fully trusting in God's sovereignty and goodness.
Let's look at what the Bible says about worry and anxiety:
"Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?', or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient." Matthew 6:25-34 WEB
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 WEB
From these verses, we can see that God wants us to trust Him with our anxieties and focus on seeking His kingdom and righteousness. He promises that when we do this, He will provide for our needs.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with anxiety and worry. Lord, we know that You care for us and want us to cast all our anxieties onto You. Help our brother/sister to trust in Your sovereignty and goodness, and to seek Your kingdom and righteousness above all else.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we rebuke the spirit of anxiety and worry that is tormenting our brother/sister. We command it to leave in Jesus' name, and we ask You, Lord, to fill our brother/sister with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to fix their minds on You and to trust in Your promises.
Lord, we also pray that our brother/sister will know You more intimately through this trial, and that they will emerge from it stronger in their faith and walk with You.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Remember, God is always with you, and He wants you to trust Him with your anxieties. Keep seeking Him and His righteousness, and He will provide for your needs. If you find yourself feeling anxious, turn to God in prayer and trust in His promises. He promises us His peace that can guard our hearts and minds even when our circumstances may be difficult.
A few additional verses for you to meditate on and memorize are:
Psalm 55:22 WEB: Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. Psalm 34:4-5 WEB: I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame.
Isaiah 26:3-4 WEB: You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock.
Finally, if anxiety is overwhelming and you are having trouble dealing with it, we also suggest talking to a trusted spiritual advisor, mentor, pastor or counselor in your local church. God has gifted us with helping relationships and it is wise to seek Godly counsel from others more mature in their faith.
