Prayer against pornography and masturbating

Anonymous

Beloved of All
(1)To be delivered from the spirit of masturbation.(2) Stagnation spiritually and physically.(3)Grace n strength to serve God.

We join with you in bringing these burdens before the Lord and we thank you for your honesty in confessing this struggle, for the Lord desires truth in the inward parts and He is faithful to deliver those who turn to Him with a repentant heart.

We want to address this plainly because God loves you too much to leave you in this bondage. Pornography and masturbation are not just bad habits, they are sexual immorality rooted in lust. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Scripture commands us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to flee youthful lusts in 2 Timothy 2:22, because our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and we are called to possess our own vessel in sanctification and honor in 1 Thessalonians 4:4. This sin defiles the temple, corrupts the mind, and brings spiritual stagnation because it grieves the Holy Spirit and feeds the flesh instead of the spirit. We rebuke this spirit of lust and impurity in the name of Jesus and we call you to decisive repentance, which means not only confessing but turning away, making no provision for the flesh in Romans 13:14, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and deliverance from sin. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead in Romans 10:9, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. It is His blood that cleanses and His Spirit that empowers us to walk in purity.

For your second request concerning stagnation spiritually and physically, we understand how persistent sin can make you feel stuck, weary, and powerless. The enemy wants you to believe there is no progress, but God promises renewal as we repent and walk by the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 says walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, and Hebrews 12:1 urges us to lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and run with perseverance the race that is set before us. When we submit to God and resist the devil he will flee from us in James 4:7.

For grace and strength to serve God, we rejoice that you desire to serve Him, for that desire itself is from the Lord. His grace not only forgives but teaches us to live soberly, righteously, and godly in Titus 2:12, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness in 2 Corinthians 12:9. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us in Philippians 4:13, and those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength in Isaiah 40:31.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our brother. We ask for Your mercy and forgiveness for all lust and impurity, and we ask You to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him in Psalm 51:10. Wash him in the blood of Jesus and break every chain of pornography and masturbation. Give him a holy hatred for sin and a deep love for purity. Help him to flee every source of temptation, to guard his eyes and his heart, to set his mind on whatever is true, pure and honorable in Philippians 4:8, and to walk daily in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Lord, lift the stagnation that has weighed down his spirit and body. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation, revive his prayer life and hunger for Your Word, and renew his physical strength as he waits on You. Pour out Your grace and strengthen him to serve You with boldness, holiness and endurance. Lead him into fellowship and accountability with mature believers who will help him walk in the light. We declare freedom over him, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed in John 8:36. Keep him by Your power and let his life bring glory to You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps with your repentance, remove every access to pornography, install filters, put your devices in open places, fast and pray, immerse yourself daily in Scripture, and seek a trusted godly man to walk with you in accountability as in James 5:16. Do not walk in shame after confession, for there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus in Romans 8:1, but walk in victory, knowing God is able to keep you from falling.

Thank you for bringing this struggle into the light. It takes real courage to name what has felt stuck and hidden, and we honor your desire to be free and to serve God with a clear heart.

We hear how heavy this has felt, especially the sense of being stagnant spiritually and physically. When this battle goes on for a while it can feel isolating and exhausting, like you are trying hard and getting nowhere. Your longing for grace and strength to serve God is a good desire, and God meets honest desire with mercy, not shame.

Freedom rarely comes from trying harder alone. It tends to grow through steady, honest steps with other people and with the Lord over time.

One practical step that helps many is to invite one trusted person into an ongoing accountability relationship. That could be a mature pastor, a Christian counselor, or a small support group that meets regularly where you can be truthful each week, not only when temptation is strong. Having a consistent place to be honest, to learn healthier ways to handle stress, loneliness and fantasy, and to keep surrendering the struggle to Christ can break the cycle of trying and hiding.

We are praying for you and standing with you in this.

Father, we lift our brother to You in Jesus' name. Bring freedom where there has been bondage, lift the weight of stagnation, and pour out Your grace and strength for each day. Give him courage to reach for help, steady community around him, and renewed joy as he walks with You and serves You. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect, heal and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your honest cry has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you, for He is a God who hears and who delivers.

You have asked for deliverance from the habit of pornography and masturbation, for freedom from stagnation, and for grace and strength to serve God. These are right prayers, and they are according to the will of God, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord, and purity is one of the two great garments of Christianity.

The Scripture warns us plainly that lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Any sin that we cling to and love will bring forth death, rest assured of that. And as you have felt, to drink of the cup of lust is to feel a thrill that makes the very bones to rot and the marrow to decay. It promises pleasure but it brings stagnation, leanness of soul, and weariness of body. You are right to see it not as a mere habit to be managed but as a power of darkness from which you need deliverance.

Know this, deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. You cannot by mere resolve break these chains, but God can.

Our hope is this, that God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it. When God Himself proclaims concerning him who is going down to the pit, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished at the cross where the Lamb was slain.

Therefore look altogether and alone to our heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. He becomes the source of a higher nature which is born in us by regeneration, so that we become partakers of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. This is not a blessing of the sin itself, for God never blesses what is impure, but He blesses the turning from it. His design for our bodies is purity, with sex and all its intimacies belonging only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Outside of that, we are called to flee youthful lusts and to keep ourselves unspotted from the world.

We pray for you now in this way.

We pray that the Lord will grant you true repentance and faith to rest your soul upon Christ alone for salvation, trusting that His blood cleanses from all sin and His righteousness is your only hope. We pray that He who brought Israel forth from bondage will bring you forth also, and that your deliverance will be attended with enrichment, for He brings His people forth with silver and gold, not leaving them empty. May He break the stagnation you feel, both spiritually and physically, and lift you from despondency so that you see that if you ever rise, it must be of Free Grace only.

We pray that He will give you grace and strength to serve Him, to watch and pray, to keep far from every occasion of sin, to fill your mind with the Word of God, to walk in the light with honest fellowship, and to declare the works of the Lord. The believer after affliction and after deliverance says, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. May that be your song. Deborah sang concerning the overthrow of Israel's enemies, and we have a far richer theme, for we have been delivered from worse enemies and saved by a greater salvation.

Go on pleading with Him. Spread your griefs before Him, for His ear is not shut and His arm is not shortened. Rest your soul upon Him and God will yet come to your deliverance, and you shall have a testimony to speak of His mercy to others in like trouble.

May the Lord keep you, cleanse you, establish you, and make you fruitful in every good work for His glory.
