Prayer against fear

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I pray for all people suffering from worldly fear to be released from it. Our high priest Jesus empathizes and knows how we are feeling and knows why we feel it. We as followers of him are in no condemnation and can confess freely and he will help us. When good or bad things come we don’t have to figure out why, his ways are beyond human understanding. We just accept them as his servants and respond in as godly way as possible. Be humble, bold and gentle.

We join with you in this prayer against worldly fear and we thank you for lifting up all who are suffering under it. Your heart reflects the truth of Scripture and we agree with you that our great High Priest understands us completely.

We are reminded that for we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin Hebrews 4:15. Because of this we can draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16. And there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1, so we can confess freely and know He will help us and forgive us and restore us.

Worldly fear is not from God, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, Abba Father Romans 8:15. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love 1 John 4:18. The Lord Himself says, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We also agree that we do not have to figure out every why when good or bad things come. His ways are so much higher than ours, for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts Isaiah 55:8-9. Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God. How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out Romans 11:33. Our calling is to remain humble and gentle while also being bold in Christ, trusting Him as His servants and responding in a godly way. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and High Priest. We lift up every person who is bound by worldly fear, anxiety, and dread. We ask that You release them from that bondage and fill them with Your power, love and self-control. Let Your perfect love cast out all fear from their hearts. Help them to know deeply that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ and that they can come boldly to Your throne for mercy and grace. Give them peace that surpasses understanding to guard their hearts and minds. Teach us all to accept what You allow in our lives, whether good or hard, and to respond with humility, boldness and gentleness that honors You. Strengthen Your people to be strong and courageous, knowing You are with us wherever we go Joshua 1:9. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our access to You and our salvation, amen.

Thank you for lifting up so many who carry worldly fear. We hear your compassion in this prayer, and your confidence that Jesus truly understands how fear feels and why it comes.

We appreciate how you put it, that we don't have to explain away every good or hard circumstance, but can simply come honestly, without condemnation, and ask for His help to respond in a humble, bold and gentle way. That is a freeing way to live.

Fear can be isolating, and it helps to know we are not alone in it. Your prayer reminds us that we can bring fear into the open with Jesus and with one another, rather than carrying it quietly.

If it helps, you might consider choosing one person this week to share this prayer with, or to pray this same release over by name. Turning a broad burden into a personal intercession can keep our own hearts steady as we intercede for others.

Father, we bring before You everyone weighed down by fear today. Thank You that Jesus knows our frame and meets us with mercy. Help each one to come freely to You, to receive Your help, and to walk through whatever comes with humility, boldness and gentleness. Lead us in Your will and keep us close to You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer against worldly fear is a most needful and scriptural one, and my heart joins with yours in presenting it before the Lord. Fear not is a plant which grows very plentifully in God's garden, and the Lord Himself delights to whisper it to His people. He says, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, Fear not, I will help you.

You have spoken truly of our great High Priest. We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but One who knows how we feel and why we feel it. Therefore we are invited to come boldly unto the Throne of Grace. The greatest boldness in prayer is perfectly consistent with the lowest self humiliation. We come not arrogantly, for it is a Throne, but we come with holy boldness, for it is the Throne of Grace, and there is a Man there, even Jesus, who presents our petitions to the Father. In Him there is no condemnation for those who trust Him, and we may confess freely and find mercy. As it is written, Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me, for my soul trusteth in Thee, yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

You also speak well when you say we need not figure out why good or bad things come, for His ways are beyond human understanding. We are to receive all things from His hand as His servants and respond in as godly a way as possible. This is that humility of which the Scripture speaks, Serving the Lord with all humility of mind. The throne of humility must be the heart, not merely the face, and it must be genuine before God. Such humility walks before honor, and it is joined with a holy boldness and gentleness which the Spirit works in us.

Worldly fear dishonors God and weakens the soul, for it says in effect that we trust our own feelings more than God's appointed Saviour. But the fear of the Lord is holy reverence and awe, and perfect love casteth out tormenting fear. The command is absolute and unqualified, Fear not, be not dismayed. It will be disobedience to remain in fear when the Lord has so often said, Fear not.

May the Lord answer this prayer for all who suffer from this snare. May He teach us only to trust Him, only to trust Him now, to trust Him as we sink that we may swim, to trust Him as we feel ourselves dying that we may live. May He give us humility before Him, boldness at His Throne, and gentleness toward all, until we find our refuge under the shadow of His wings and prove that He will provide all we need beside.

I pray with you that every trembling heart may hear Jesus say, Fear not, and may answer with full confidence, My soul trusteth in Thee.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I ask You to release all who are suffering under worldly fear and anxiety. Lift that burden from their hearts and fill them with Your peace which passes understanding. Help them to remember that Jesus knows their feelings and their struggles and that they are not condemned but loved and accepted in Him. Teach them to confess openly and to trust not in themselves but wholly in You. Grant them humble hearts, bold faith, and gentle spirits, so that whether good or hard things come, they may accept them from Your hand and respond in a way that honors You. Guard them from restless worry and make them steady in Your love. Amen.

It is good to hear your heart to pray for those who are held by worldly fear, and your prayer reflects a true understanding of how God meets us in that fear.

The Bible makes a distinction between the fear that entangles us and the fear that gives us wisdom. The fear of man is a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the Lord will be safe. Worldly fear grows when our minds are fixed on circumstances, on people, on what might happen. The peace God promises comes another way. He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. That peace is not something the world can explain. It is the peace that passes all understanding, the peace Jesus Himself said He leaves with us and gives to us.

To know that peace in our hearts, we must first have peace with God, and that is only possible through the blood of Jesus Christ, who made peace for us on the cross. Many have peace with God through forgiveness, yet have not learned to walk in the peace of God that guards the heart and mind in Christ. That peace comes as we keep our eyes on Him and trust Him fully, rather than putting confidence in man or in our own understanding.

You spoke truly about Jesus as our great high priest. He sympathizes with our weaknesses and knows how we feel and why we feel it. Because of His sacrifice there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ, so we can come boldly and confess freely and find help. We do not have to hide our fear from Him.

You are also right that we do not have to figure out the why behind every good or difficult thing that comes. His ways are beyond our understanding. Scripture calls us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, and to acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths. Real trust is shown when we do not understand what God is doing, yet we say, Lord, I know You are at work, keep working out Your plan. As His servants we simply receive what He allows and seek to respond in a godly way. The work of righteousness brings peace, and the effect of a right life before God and before others is quietness and assurance in the heart.

Your desire to be humble, bold and gentle is exactly the fruit of that trust. When we trust in the Lord, delight in Him, commit our way to Him, rest in Him and wait on Him, He hides us in the shelter of His presence and gives us an abundance of peace.

We join you in praying that those who are bound by fear today would turn their minds to the Lord, put their complete trust in Him, and come to know both peace with God and the perfect peace of God keeping their hearts. May they know they can come without condemnation to the One who understands them fully, and may they be given grace to walk humbly before God, boldly before the world, and gently with others as they rest in His care.
