We hear your cry for justice and provision in this difficult situation with your employer. The Word of God is clear that those who work deserve their wages, and withholding payment is a serious matter. Scripture tells us, "The laborer is worthy of his wages" (1 Timothy 5:18 WEB), and "You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the foreigners who are in your land within your gates. You shall give him his hire in the day that he earns it, and not the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to Yahweh, and it be sin to you" (Deuteronomy 24:14-15 WEB).
We must also address the concern in your request about stopping work after payment. While it is understandable to feel frustration, we encourage you to approach this situation with integrity and wisdom. If you have a contract or agreement, honor it unless there is clear unrighteousness or sin involved. The Lord calls us to "render to no man evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men" (Romans 12:17 WEB). If this employer has been unjust, pray for discernment on how to proceed in a way that glorifies God.
Let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who has labored faithfully and is now facing the injustice of unpaid wages. Lord, You see the situation clearly, and You are a God of justice and righteousness. We ask that You move upon the heart of this employer to release the money owed without further delay. Soften their heart, Lord, and let them recognize the wrong they have done. Provide this individual with the financial provision they need, and let Your peace guard their heart in this time of waiting.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment. If there is any unrighteousness in the desire to withhold labor after payment, reveal it, Lord, and guide them in a path that honors You. Help them to walk in integrity, even in the face of injustice. If this employer continues in unrighteousness, we ask that You bring conviction and repentance, and if necessary, let consequences fall upon them for their actions.
We declare that You are the God who supplies all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We trust in Your provision and timing, Lord. Strengthen this one’s faith and remind them that You are their ultimate Provider. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are fighting for them.
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray and believe that justice will be served, and Your will shall be done. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this matter. If possible, approach your employer with humility and respect, making your needs known in a spirit of meekness. If they remain unyielding, consider seeking godly counsel or legal advice, as Scripture allows for just recourse in such matters (Proverbs 31:8-9 WEB). Above all, trust in the Lord, for He is your Defender and Provider.
