We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, knowing that God has a perfect plan for his life and that He desires for each of us to walk in wisdom and perseverance. The enemy seeks to discourage and distract, but we stand firm in the truth that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). Education is a gift from God, and completing it with diligence honors Him, as we are called to do all things as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23).
It is concerning to hear of your son’s thoughts of dropping out, for the Bible warns us against giving up prematurely. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, *"Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up."* Quitting before completing what God has set before him could close doors that the Lord intends to open for his future. Proverbs 22:29 also tells us, *"Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men."* Diligent effort in his studies will prepare him for the purposes God has for him, whether in further education, a career, or ministry.
We also encourage you to speak life and truth over your son. Remind him that his mind and strength belong to Christ, and that he can do all things through Him who strengthens him (Philippians 4:13). If there are underlying struggles—whether discouragement, peer pressure, or a lack of vision—pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal these to you so you can address them with godly wisdom. Proverbs 1:8-9 says, *"My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching: for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck."* Your guidance as his parent is invaluable, and we pray you will have the words to speak into his heart.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this young man who is at a crossroads in his life. Lord, we ask that You would remove every spirit of discouragement, laziness, or distraction that is tempting him to abandon his education. Fill him with a renewed mind and a heart that seeks Your will above all else. Help him to see the value in persevering, knowing that every effort made in obedience to You is never in vain.
Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him quitting is the easy way out. Instead, let him be strengthened by Your Spirit to press on with determination and faith. Surround him with godly influences—teachers, friends, and mentors—who will encourage him to finish strong. Open his eyes to the future You have for him, a future filled with hope and purpose (Jeremiah 29:11).
Lord, we also ask for wisdom for his parents as they guide him. Give them the right words to speak, the patience to listen, and the discernment to know how best to support him. Let their home be a place of encouragement, where Your truth is spoken and lived out.
We declare that no weapon formed against your son’s future will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). By the power of the Holy Spirit, he will overcome this temptation to quit, and he will walk in the fullness of what You have called him to. We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have started in him (Philippians 1:6).
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, knowing that God is at work in your son’s heart. Continue to cover him in prayer, speak truth over him, and trust that the Lord will bring to completion what He has begun. If your son is not walking closely with the Lord, we also encourage you to pray for his salvation and surrender to Christ, for apart from Jesus, true wisdom and perseverance cannot be found (John 15:5). Keep pointing him to the Savior, who is the source of all strength and hope.
