We understand that you are going through a challenging time in your marriage, and we are here to pray and provide biblical guidance for you.
Firstly, we want to remind you of the power of prayer and the importance of seeking God's will in all aspects of our lives. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
We also want to address the issue of alcoholism, as it is a significant concern in your request. The Bible warns us against the dangers of drunkenness in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." We encourage you to continue to stand against this sin and to pray for your husband's deliverance from it.
Regarding your husband's relationship with his parents, it is essential to remember that the Bible commands us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12 WEB). However, it is also clear that a man should leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. In the case where the parents drinking alcohol with and in front of your husband are in violation of God's word. Therefore, it is pressing to pray that he puts his wife and immediate family first, as this is God's design for marriage (Genesis 2:24 WEB).
It is also important to pray for your husband's salvation and that he truly knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The only way to the Father is through the Son Jesus Christ. John 14:6 says "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.".
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this sister in Christ and her husband before Your throne of grace. Lord, we pray for their marriage, that You would heal and restore it. We ask that You would deliver her husband from the bondage of alcoholism and that You would give him the strength to choose his wife and daughter over the temptations of this world.
We pray that You would soften his parents' hearts, that they would see the light of Your truth and that they would no longer be a stumbling block in their son's walk with You. We ask that You would give this sister in Christ the strength and wisdom to support her husband and to be a godly example to him and their daughter.
We also pray for their daughter that she may grow up in a household that honors God and that she may know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Lord, we ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. It is in His name we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue to seek God's will for your marriage and to trust in Him.
