Let us begin by acknowledging that our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. We are sorry to hear about the struggles and trials that have been faced. It truly weighs on our hearts, and all the more so because we can see that the issues are not the result of obvious sin. We must remember that even the earliest followers of Christ faced persecution and hatred from the world. As Jesus said in John 15:18-19 WEB, "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."
Yet, we must also consider if there is any truth in the reactions of others. We should examine ourselves to be discern if there is any hidden sin or offense that might be causing these reactions. As it says in Hebrews 12:14-15 WEB, "Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it." We would pray that if there be any such sin or offense, that it would be revealed and repented of, so that restoration and reconciliation can begin.
We also want to remember your spouse and children. We pray for your marriage especially at this time. Remember that God hates divorce as Malachi 2:16 WEB says, "For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel". We pray for restoration and healing in your marriage and especially to be with your children. As a father, you have a great responsibility to raise your children in the ways of the Lord, as instructed in Ephesians 6:4 WEB, "You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."
In all things, we need to remember that our true identity is in Christ, and that His love for us and His approval is what ultimately matters. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 139:13-14 WEB, "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up this person who is hurting and feeling hated by the world. We pray that you would comfort and strengthen them in this time of trial. We ask that you would reveal any hidden sin or offense that might be causing these reactions, and that you would grant repentance and restoration. We pray for their marriage, that you would heal and restore that relationship, and that they would be reunited with their children. We pray that they would find their identity and approval in you, and that they would be filled with your love and peace. We ask this all in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to be strong and courageous; remember, God is with you and will never leave or forsake you.
