We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this grave concern for the one in authority who is acting unjustly, betraying his own people for the favor of foreigners. The Scriptures are clear about the righteousness God requires of those in positions of power. Proverbs 29:4 warns, *"The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down."* And in Isaiah 1:17, the Lord commands, *"Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow."* Yet here we see the opposite—exploitation, partiality, and the crushing of the local people under unfair labor practices while foreigners are elevated. This is not only unjust but an affront to God, who shows no partiality (Romans 2:11) and commands His people to love their neighbors as themselves (Leviticus 19:18).
The betrayal you describe is a grievous sin, one that echoes the warning in Ezekiel 22:29: *"The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully."* When leaders act in such a way, they invite God’s judgment unless they repent. We must pray fervently for this man’s repentance, that the Lord would convict his heart and turn him from his wicked ways. Let us remember that God is able to humble the proud and exalt the lowly (James 4:10). The Lord sees the affliction of His people, and He hears their cries (Exodus 3:7). He is a God of justice, and He will not allow the wicked to triumph forever (Psalm 94:20-23).
At the same time, we must also pray for the locals who are suffering under this oppression. The Lord cares deeply for those who are mistreated and promises to be their defender. Psalm 103:6 declares, *"Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed."* We ask that God would provide for these workers, opening doors for stable and dignified employment. May He expose the corruption at play and raise up godly leaders who will act with integrity and fairness. Let us also pray that the local people would turn to the Lord in their distress, finding their hope and strength in Him rather than in the hands of unjust men.
We must also address the broader spiritual condition here. If this leader claims any form of faith, his actions are a stark contradiction to the call of Christ. Jesus taught that His followers are to be servants of all (Mark 10:43-44), not oppressors. A heart that betrays its own people for personal gain is far from God. True repentance requires a turning away from sin and a turning toward God, with a willingness to make restitution where possible (Luke 19:8). Without repentance, there can be no forgiveness (1 John 1:9), and the consequences of such sin will be severe, both in this life and the next.
Let us pray now with boldness and faith, trusting that the Lord hears us and will act according to His perfect will.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this urgent cry for justice and repentance. Lord, You see the betrayal and oppression taking place in this land. You know the heart of this leader who has turned away from his own people, favoring foreigners and enforcing unjust labor practices. Father, we ask that You would convict his heart deeply. Let him feel the weight of his sin and the grief he has caused. Soften his heart, Lord, and bring him to true repentance. May he turn from his wicked ways and seek Your forgiveness, making right what he has done wrong. Let him remember that every authority is established by You (Romans 13:1), and he will give an account for how he has used his power.
Lord, we also lift up the locals who are suffering under this injustice. You are their Provider and Defender. Open doors for them, Father, that they may find stable and honorable work. Protect them from further exploitation and give them wisdom to navigate these difficult circumstances. May they not grow bitter or lose hope, but instead, may they turn to You and find their strength in Christ. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and that You will never leave them nor forsake them.
Father, we ask that You would expose the corruption and injustice at work here. Raise up godly leaders who will act with integrity and fairness. Let righteousness prevail in this land, and may Your name be glorified through justice and mercy. We pray that those who are oppressed would not lose faith but would see Your hand at work in their lives. Give them courage to stand firm in what is right, and may they be a light in the darkness, pointing others to You.
We also pray for the foreigners who are being favored unjustly. Lord, may they not be complicit in this oppression but instead recognize the injustice and speak out against it. Let them act with compassion and fairness, remembering that they too are strangers in this land and should treat others as they would want to be treated.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would move in this situation in a way that brings glory to Your name. Let Your justice roll down like waters, and Your righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24). We trust in You, Lord, for You are a God who sees and acts. May Your will be done in this place, and may many come to know You through the outworking of Your justice and grace.
We pray all these things in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
