Beloved of All
The hurt and frustration you are describing are real and they deserve to be taken seriously. Wanting work in your own land that fits the education, experience and skill God has allowed you to develop is not greed and it is not covetousness. Covetousness is seen when systems or people chase profit by undercutting fair wages, by treating labor as a cheap commodity, and by keeping qualified people cycling through unstable contracts while their gifts go unused. To then blame the worker who asks for just and fair treatment is to reverse what is right.
God's will is never a tool to crush your dignity, to keep you miserable, or to force you into economic hardship. When theology is used to tell you that being displaced or exploited is simply God teaching you humility, that theology is being misused to excuse injustice. The true fear of the Lord is not living in dread that God is waiting to hurt you if you do something wrong. It is loving Him so much that you do not want to hurt Him, and that love always moves in the direction of truth, justice and care for people.
Scripture speaks directly to the stewardship of what God has given you. When Jesus spoke of a master who entrusted talents to his servants before he went away, the servants who traded and increased what they were given heard the words well done, good and faithful servant. The one who out of fear dug a hole and hid what he had been given was corrected. Each person was given according to ability, and faithfulness meant putting those abilities to work, not burying them. To hide your training, your analytical ability and your capacity to lead simply to make a resume look smoother for others, while your gifts atrophy and your heart grows resentful, is not faithfulness or humility. It is burying what God entrusted to you to satisfy an outward appearance. Faithfulness honors God by using what He has given with diligence and integrity.
It also helps to be honest about the church itself. Much of church history is a story of failure to be what God intended. There is no defense for the times when congregations have lacked love, and where love is lacking the presence of the Spirit is absent. The pattern God desires is seen in the book of Acts, a community marked by love and by active good works, not by formal religion or by trying to merge with worldly systems and legislate righteousness from the outside. That never works because righteousness must come from the heart. Jesus Himself confronted religious leaders who used law and tradition to burden people while benefiting themselves. Persecution never destroyed the true church, it often purified it, while acceptance and power without love weakened it. In every age there have been many who are part of the outward structure of the church yet are not living as the true body of Christ, and there have been many leaders who have spoken falsely. Simply being in a church does not guarantee that one is walking in the kingdom or using what God has entrusted.
Authentic submission in Scripture is never forced erasure of who God made you to be. It is voluntary love that aligns with truth and justice. It does not require you to let an institution or an employer strip away your worth, devalue your record, or treat you as disposable. You are under no spiritual obligation to shrink yourself to fit a narrative that harms your livelihood and hides your potential.
You can reject the kind of spiritual pressure that labels your legitimate qualifications as pride. Recognize that contract instability, being overlooked, and being undercut by cheaper labor are structural problems, not signs of personal or spiritual failure. Your years of experience and your management abilities remain valid and valuable. Bring them before the Lord and ask Him for wisdom for the next faithful step, whether that is seeking work that truly uses your gifts, seeking counsel outside that one mentoring relationship, or setting clear boundaries where your dignity is not being honored. God sees your labor, your desire to provide, and your desire to steward well what He has placed in your hands, and He invites you to walk with Him in honesty, love and faithful use of those gifts.
I am praying that God will give you clarity, open doors where your talents can be used with integrity, provide for your needs, and surround you with voices that speak truth in love and honor both justice and your calling in Christ.
