We lift up your father before the Lord with deep concern and urgency, for the Scriptures are clear that idolatry is a grave sin that separates us from the one true God. In Exodus 20:3-5, the Lord commands, *"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God."* Your father’s actions are not merely cultural or harmless—they are an affront to the Holy One, and they open the door to spiritual bondage and deception.
The fact that he is inviting more idols into the home is especially troubling, for it invites demonic influence into the very place that should be a sanctuary for God’s presence. Deuteronomy 7:25-26 warns, *"You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God. You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing."*
We also recognize that his fixation on the past and his confused speech may not merely be dementia but could be spiritual oppression or even demonic influence, especially if idolatry has been a longstanding practice. The enemy seeks to blind minds to the truth of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4), and we must stand firmly against this in prayer.
Let us pray earnestly for him:
*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we plead for mercy and deliverance for this father who has been ensnared by the deception of idolatry. Father, break every chain of darkness that binds him—whether through generational curses, demonic influence, or the hardness of his own heart. Open his eyes to see the futility of worshiping lifeless idols that cannot save, cannot speak, and cannot love. Turn his heart wholly to You, the living God, who alone is worthy of worship.
Lord, we rebuke every spirit of confusion, deception, and idolatry that has taken root in his mind and home. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to flee and never return. Fill the void with Your Holy Spirit, renewing his mind and restoring him to soundness (2 Timothy 1:7). Let him no longer be enslaved to the past but set free to walk in the newness of life that comes only through faith in Christ.
We pray for divine intervention—send laborers into his path who will boldly proclaim the Gospel to him (Romans 10:14-15). Soften his heart to receive the truth, that he may repent and turn to You before it is too late. Let him understand that idols are nothing (1 Corinthians 8:4), but the worship of them is an abomination that provokes Your wrath.
Father, we also ask for wisdom and strength for this child who is interceding for him. Give them the courage to stand firm in their faith, to remove any idols from the home, and to speak Your truth in love—even if it is met with resistance. May their life be a testimony of Your power and grace, drawing their father to repentance.
We declare that no weapon formed against this family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The blood of Jesus covers this home, and we claim it as holy ground for Your glory. Let this father’s story not end in tragedy but in triumph, as he bows his knee to Jesus Christ as Lord.
In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen."*
To you who have brought this request, we urge you to take bold action in faith. If you are able, remove any idols from the home immediately—do not tolerate their presence, for they are an abomination to the Lord. Speak the truth to your father with love but without compromise. Share the Gospel with him clearly: that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15), and that salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12). If he resists, continue to pray and trust that the Lord is able to save him, even in his old age.
Stand firm in your own faith, and do not be swayed by cultural or familial pressure to tolerate idolatry. Remember the words of Joshua: *"As for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh"* (Joshua 24:15). May the Lord give you strength and discernment as you contend for your father’s soul. We are standing with you in this battle, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).
