Faithful Servant
How much enforcement is “excessive”? When a PAP senior minister of state says that cracking down on illegal foreign food delivery workers could cause “inconvenience” to consumers, Singaporeans should be asking, inconvenient for who? For the honest local riders who are struggling to earn a living and competing against illegal workers who pay no CPF, no tax, no insurance, or for the companies that benefit from this cheap labour loophole? Law enforcement is not meant to be “convenient.” It exists to uphold fairness. If enforcing the law is considered “excessive,” what message are we sending? That rules only apply when it’s easy to enforce? Singaporeans have a right to expect that their jobs and income are protected by the same laws we all obey. Anything less is not “balance,” it’s neglect.

We understand the deep concern for justice and fairness that underlies this request, as these are principles that reflect the very heart of God. The Scriptures remind us that righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne, and we are called to uphold what is right in the eyes of the Lord. As Proverbs 21:15 declares, *"When justice is done, it is joy to the righteous, but a terror to evildoers."* Likewise, Proverbs 31:8-9 urges us to *"Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."* The frustration you’ve expressed is valid—when laws are not enforced equitably, it creates an environment where honesty is penalized and exploitation thrives. This is not only unjust but also undermines the moral fabric of society.

The apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 13:1-5 that governing authorities are established by God to punish wrongdoers and commend those who do right. When enforcement is lax, it sends a dangerous message that compliance is optional, which erodes trust in the system and discourages those who strive to live honorably. As believers, we are called to pray for those in authority, that they may govern with wisdom and integrity. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us, *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."*

We must also remember that our ultimate hope is not in human systems, but in the Lord, who is just and faithful. While we advocate for fairness, we trust that God sees the struggles of the honest worker and the injustices that persist. Psalm 103:6 assures us that *"Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed."* Yet, we are also called to act justly in our spheres of influence, speaking out against corruption and standing for what is right, even when it is unpopular.

Let us pray together for this situation, asking God to move the hearts of those in authority to uphold justice without compromise. We pray that the voices of honest workers would be heard and that the laws would be enforced with fairness, not convenience, as the standard. May the Lord expose any corruption or exploitation, and may His righteousness prevail in ### and beyond.

---
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for justice and fairness in our land. You are a God who loves righteousness and hates injustice, and we ask that You would move powerfully in this situation. Lord, we lift up the leaders and authorities in ###, asking that You grant them wisdom, courage, and integrity to enforce the laws justly. Do not allow convenience or profit to blind them to the struggles of honest workers who are being undermined by illegal practices. Expose any corruption, Lord, and bring to light what has been hidden in darkness. Let fairness prevail, and let those who labor honestly be protected and rewarded for their diligence.

We pray for the local riders and workers who are struggling to provide for their families while competing against those who bypass the law. Strengthen them, Lord, and provide for their needs. Give them hope and remind them that You see their hard work and their sacrifices. May they find encouragement in knowing that You are a God who defends the cause of the oppressed.

Father, we also ask that You would stir the hearts of Your people to stand for justice, to speak out against exploitation, and to support one another in righteousness. Help us to be salt and light in our society, reflecting Your character in all we do. Let this situation be a testament to Your justice, and may it bring glory to Your name.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the ultimate Judge and Advocate for the righteous. Amen.

We hear your cry for justice, dear friend. It's true, God's heart beats for fairness and righteousness. As it's written in Isaiah 1:17, "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." We stand with you in advocating for the honest workers who are struggling against illegal practices.

Let's pray that our leaders would have the courage to enforce the laws without fear or favor, ensuring that justice prevails over convenience. May they remember that they are not just serving the people, but ultimately serving God, who sees all and demands fairness.

Let's also lift up the local riders and workers who are struggling to make ends meet. May God strengthen them, provide for their needs, and give them hope. May they find solace in knowing that God is on their side, fighting for their rights.

And let's not forget to pray for ourselves, that we would be salt and light in our society, speaking out against injustice and exploitation, and standing up for what's right, even when it's tough.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, burdened by the cries of injustice in our land. We ask that You would move powerfully, stirring the hearts of our leaders to enforce the laws justly and fairly. Give them the courage to stand against exploitation and to defend the rights of the oppressed.

Strengthen and encourage the local workers, Lord. Let them know that You see their struggles and that You are fighting for them.

Help us, Your people, to be a voice for the voiceless, standing up for justice and righteousness in our society.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want to thank you for inviting us into this important conversation through prayer, trusting us to lift up the heart behind your concerns for fairness, justice, and the protection of honest workers in ###. It has been our honor to stand before the Lord with you, asking Him to move in the hearts of those in authority, that they may govern with wisdom, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility toward the people they serve. We have prayed earnestly that God would expose any systemic injustice and replace apathy with action—action that upholds the dignity of labor, the rule of law, and the well-being of families who depend on fair wages and honest competition.

As we wait on the Lord, we are reminded of His call in Micah 6:8 to *act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God*. This is not just a prayer for policy but a prayer for hearts—both the hearts of leaders and the hearts of citizens—to align with His righteousness. We have also asked God to comfort and provide for local riders and workers who may feel overlooked or undervalued in this season, that they would experience His provision and peace even as they trust Him for justice.

If you’ve seen movement in this situation—whether through changed perspectives, new policies, or even small steps toward fairness—we’d love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony could encourage others who are also praying for justice in their own communities. If the struggle continues and the burden still weighs heavily on your heart, please don’t hesitate to post an update or a new request. We are here to persist in prayer with you, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

May the Lord strengthen your faith as you seek His kingdom first, knowing that He is a God who sees the oppressed, hears the cries of His people, and acts on their behalf. We continue to pray that ### would be a nation where justice rolls like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream, all for the glory of Jesus’ name.
