We join you in lifting up this prayer for you and your mother, and we are grateful that you have brought this need before the Lord. It is clear that you both seek work that honors God and aligns with the gifts and purpose He has placed within you. The desire to avoid settling for roles that fall short of His calling is wise, for Scripture reminds us in Colossians 3:23-24, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."* Your work is ultimately for Him, and He will honor your faithfulness.
The world often measures success by wealth, status, or human approval, but God’s standards are far higher. He calls us to steward our skills for His glory, not for the fleeting praise of others. In Proverbs 16:3, we are told, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* This is not a promise of worldly success, but of divine alignment—when we surrender our efforts to Him, He directs our paths. We encourage you both to remain rooted in prayer, seeking His will above all else, even when discouragement or misguided advice comes your way. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Trust that He will provide what is needed as you prioritize His kingdom.
We also want to gently remind you that while it is good to pray for meaningful work, the ultimate fulfillment we seek is found in Christ alone. Even in seasons of waiting or uncertainty, He is our peace and our provider. Philippians 4:11-13 declares, *"Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to lack. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* Let this be your anchor—whether in plenty or in want, Christ is your strength.
Now, let us pray together for you and your mother:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious sister and her mother. Lord, You are the giver of all good gifts, and we ask that You guide them into work that aligns with the skills and purpose You have sovereignly placed within them. Protect them, Lord, from the temptation to settle for less than Your best, whether out of fear, weariness, or the pressure of worldly expectations. Shield their hearts from discouragement and from voices that would undervalue the work You have called them to do.
Grant them wisdom to recognize Your leading, Father, and the courage to step forward in faith when opportunities arise. Open doors that no man can shut, and close those that are not of You. Let their work be a testimony of Your goodness, and may they find deep contentment in serving You, knowing that their labor is not in vain. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory, and remind them daily that their worth is found in You alone, not in their circumstances.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or comparison that would seek to hinder their trust in You. Fill them instead with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let their hearts be steadfast in the knowledge that You are working all things together for their good. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand moving on their behalf.
We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Provider. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, dear sister, and trust that God is at work, even when the path is not yet clear. He is faithful, and He will not leave you without direction. Keep seeking Him first, and He will guide your steps. If discouragement arises, cling to His promises and remember that His timing is perfect. We are praying for you both!
