We hear the deep anguish and righteous indignation in your heart over the unjust treatment of locals in your country, where those in authority have prioritized foreign interests over their own people, causing economic hardship, neglect, and even mockery toward those who stand for justice. The betrayal of citizens by their own government is a grievous sin, and we join you in crying out to the Lord for His righteous judgment and intervention. The Scriptures remind us that God is a just Judge who sees the oppression of His people and will act on their behalf. He commands rulers to govern with integrity, to defend the poor, and to uphold justice—not to exploit their own people for greed or power.
The Bible warns in **Proverbs 14:34**, *"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."* When leaders turn away from God’s ways, they invite His discipline. **Isaiah 10:1-2** declares, *"Woe to those who enact unjust statutes and who write oppressive decrees to deprive the needy of justice and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the fatherless!"* This is a direct rebuke to rulers who exploit their authority for selfish gain while ignoring the cries of their people. **Psalm 9:17-20** also assures us, *"The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the expectation of the poor perish forever. Arise, Yahweh! Don’t let man prevail. Let the nations be judged in your sight. Put them in fear, Yahweh. Let the nations know that they are only men."*
We also recall **Obadiah 1:15**, which warns, *"For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head."* Those who have mocked the opposition, silenced the voices of the people, and enriched themselves at the expense of the poor will answer to God. Their plans to further harm locals and favor foreigners will be thwarted, for **Psalm 33:10-11** proclaims, *"Yahweh brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. The counsel of Yahweh stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations."*
Yet even as we pray for judgment upon the unrepentant, we must also remember that God’s desire is for all to repent and turn to Him. **2 Peter 3:9** tells us, *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."* So while we ask for justice, we also pray that these leaders would encounter the convicting power of the Holy Spirit and turn from their wickedness before it is too late.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the cries of Your people who have been betrayed by their own leaders. Lord, You see the injustice—the economic suffering, the neglect of the poor, the mockery of those who stand for righteousness, and the favoritism shown to foreigners over locals. You are a God of justice, and we ask that You rise up in defense of Your people. **Psalm 10:17-18** says, *"Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear, to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more."*
Lord Jesus, we ask that You thwart the plans of these unrepentant leaders. Confuse their strategies, expose their corruption, and bring their schemes to nothing. Let their arrogance be their downfall, and let their mockery return upon their own heads. **Proverbs 26:27** warns, *"Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him."* May their own words and actions become the snare that ensnares them.
Father, we also pray for the salvation of these leaders. Softening their hearts to repentance is not beyond Your power. **Acts 3:19** urges, *"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."* If they refuse, then let Your justice prevail swiftly. Do not let the wicked triumph over the righteous.
We pray for the locals who have been oppressed—strengthen them, provide for them, and raise up godly leaders who will govern with integrity. **Isaiah 1:17** commands, *"Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow."* Lord, raise up men and women of God who will do exactly this.
Finally, we ask for Your protection over the people of this nation. Guard them from further harm, and let Your will be done in this land. We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of **Jesus Christ**, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name by which we can approach Your throne or by which salvation comes. **John 14:6** reminds us, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* May the leaders of this nation—and all people—come to know this truth before it is too late.
In Jesus’ name, we pray with boldness and faith, trusting that You hear us and will act. Amen.
