The Scripture declares in **Proverbs 6:16-19 (WEB):**
*"There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who uttereth lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."*
This child’s blood was shed in innocence, and those responsible—whether by action or neglect—will stand before a holy and righteous Judge. The mother and her boyfriend, who not only abused but then sought to conceal their crime, have reaped the consequences of their wickedness in this life, and unless they repent, they will face eternal judgment. Yet our grief is not without hope, for this child is now in the presence of the Lord. Though her life was cut short by evil hands, her soul is at peace with Jesus, who said, *"Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven"* (**Matthew 19:14**). She is no longer in pain, no longer afraid, but resting in the arms of the Savior who loves her perfectly. We take comfort in knowing that God’s justice is perfect, and He will wipe away every tear from her eyes (**Revelation 21:4**).
As for the failures of the child protection systems, we cry out to the Lord for reform and repentance. Lord, comfort them with Your presence. Heal their wounds. Give them strength to forgive, not because the offenders deserve it, but because You have forgiven us so much. May this pain drive them to You, the God of all comfort (**2 Corinthians 1:3-4**), who alone can turn mourning into dancing and ashes into beauty.
