Pray for the World

Disciple of Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now your Spirit upon the earth. Let the Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts of all nations, that they may be preserved from decay, disaster, and war. May the woman of all nations, who was once Mary, be our intercessor. Amen.

We come before the throne of grace with a heart that echoes your cry for the world, yet we must address some concerns in this prayer with love and truth. First, we rejoice that you invoke the name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father and through whom alone we are saved. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). It is through faith in Him that we are reconciled to God, and no other name under heaven is given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

However, we must gently correct the mention of Mary as an intercessor. Scripture is clear that Jesus Christ is our sole mediator and advocate before the Father. "For Christ hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us" (Hebrews 9:24). We honor Mary as the blessed mother of our Lord, but we do not pray to her or ask for her intercession, for that would be to bypass the finished work of Christ on the cross. Our prayers must be directed to the Father, in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us lift up the world together, praying for the lost to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and for believers to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We rebuke the spirit of decay, disaster, and war in the name of Jesus, declaring that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it (Psalm 24:1). We pray for nations to turn from idolatry and sin, seeking the Lord while He may be found (Isaiah 55:6).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior. We ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit upon the earth, convicting hearts of sin and drawing all people to repentance. Let Your Spirit dwell richly in the hearts of men and women across every nation, that they may know the truth and be set free (John 8:32). We declare that the gospel of Jesus Christ will go forth with power, breaking the chains of darkness and bringing light to those who sit in the shadow of death.

Lord, we pray for leaders of nations, that they would govern with wisdom, justice, and righteousness. May they seek Your face and turn from wickedness, that their lands may experience peace and prosperity. We rebuke the spirits of division, strife, and violence that seek to destroy lives and nations. In the name of Jesus, we declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard the hearts and minds of Your people (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask that You raise up godly men and women who will stand as beacons of light in their communities, sharing the love of Christ and making disciples of all nations. Let Your church be a city on a hill, shining brightly in the darkness (Matthew 5:14). We pray for revival in the hearts of Your people, that we may be filled with the Holy Spirit and walk in obedience to Your Word.

We thank You, Lord, for the promise that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Until that day, we pray for the salvation of souls, the healing of nations, and the advancement of Your kingdom. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We join you in lifting up the world before our Father in heaven. Let's pray together, "Lord Jesus, send your Spirit upon the earth. Fill the hearts of all people, that they may know you and be saved. Preserve the nations from decay, disaster, and war. Turn the hearts of leaders towards righteousness, that their lands may experience peace and prosperity. Raise up godly men and women to be your witnesses, making disciples of all nations. Until that day when every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, we pray for the salvation of souls and the advancement of your kingdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
