We join you in prayer concerning this difficult housing situation in California and we bring this matter before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

We are grieved to hear of tenants harassing their innocent roommates with lies and bearing false witness to the landlords. Scripture is very clear that God hates lying and deceit. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor Exodus 20:16 and Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22. We rebuke the behavior of dishonesty, harassment, and sowing discord among those who share a home, for He who practices deceit won't dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won't be established before my eyes Psalm 101:7 and A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he who utters lies shall not escape Proverbs 19:5. Those who are troubling their Christian roommates with falsehoods are called to repentance, to put away lying and to walk in truth.

We also pray for the landlords that they would not be quick to believe every report but would seek wisdom and truth with discernment. Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor Ephesians 4:25 and If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him James 1:5. We ask that God would give these landlords eyes to see clearly, ears to hear truthfully, and hearts to judge justly and not on the basis of deceitful words.

We pray for the innocent Christian roommates that they would be protected, vindicated, and kept in peace even while enduring this trial. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. We encourage them to continue to live above reproach, to document truth quietly, to respond with grace and not retaliation, and to trust the Lord as their defender, for Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We also remember the call of our Lord to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this home in California. Lord, You see every lie that has been spoken and every act of harassment against these innocent roommates. We ask that You expose every falsehood and let truth prevail. Convict the hearts of those tenants who have been dishonest and troublesome, bring them to repentance, and cause them to cease from harassing and slandering others. Soften their hearts and turn them from deceit to honesty. Lord, grant the landlords wisdom and discernment to not be swayed by lies but to seek the truth diligently and to act with fairness and justice. Protect the innocent Christian roommates, guard their reputation, their peace, and their dwelling place. Let Your justice and Your peace reign in that house miraculously in this month of September. We ask that You make a way where there seems to be no way and that Your name would be glorified through restored peace and truth. We thank You that You are a God of justice and mercy and that You hear our prayers when we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

When tensions rise between people sharing space, emotions and assumptions can quickly take over and make it hard for anyone to hear clearly. Having some simple structure can help keep things from escalating further.

One steady step that often helps is to keep a brief, factual written record of what happens, when and who was present, without added commentary, and to keep any communication with the landlords in calm, written form so there is a clear account. If there is a trusted pastor, elder, or a local mediation resource in your county, inviting a neutral third party to help facilitate conversation can also give everyone a chance to be heard respectfully.

We are also praying for your peace and steadiness as you walk through September.

Father, we lift these roommates and this home to You. We ask You to bring truth to light, to quiet harassment and dishonesty, to give the landlords wisdom and discernment, and to guard these innocent roommates with Your peace and protection. Lead them in wise next steps and provide a more settled living situation as You will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request concerning the strife and falsehood in that house in California has been laid before the Lord, and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to the God of all peace and truth.

We are reminded that the house in which we dwell in this life has God for its Landlord, and we are only tenants. All that we have, our homes and goods and very breath, are His gifts, and the rent He requires is praising and blessing Him in life, practically by obedience and heartily with gratitude. When tenants forget this and give way to dishonesty and malice, they forget the great Owner to whom all must give account. Yet the Lord sees and knows, and He will not be mocked.

For those innocent roommates who bear the burden of lies, hear the word of the Psalmist, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. When besieged by doubts and fears and the unkindness of others, this is the short way with the adversary, to look to the Son of God who poured out His life and to trust Him. May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds by Jesus Christ. This is not the false peace of those who forget God, for there is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked, but the true peace made by the blood of His Cross, for He is our Peace who hath made peace between God and man.

We pray now to the God of Peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that He would make His presence known in that dwelling.

O Lord, Thou God of Peace, look upon this household. Let truth prevail over falsehood and let the tongue that frames lies be silenced by Thy Spirit. Convict those who harass and speak untruthfully against their roommates, and grant them repentance and a love of honesty, that they may seek the things which make for peace. Give to those in authority over the house, the landlords and those entrusted with judgment, clear eyes and wise hearts, that they may not believe every word but may discern with justice and mercy. Guard the innocent, plead the causes of their souls as Thou hast promised, and let them live as occupiers under a Royal Owner should behave, mindful of Thee and earnest for Thy glory. Though the world is not our nest and Thou dost often plant thorns therein to compel us to seek a higher home, grant in Thy mercy even now a season of quietness and deliverance in this place, if it be Thy will, in this month of September, that all may see Thy hand.

May the God of Peace sanctify all who dwell there, that each may seek his brother's good, and may the peace which Christ established reign. We ask this not because we are worthy, but through Jesus Christ our only Mediator and Advocate, who bore our debt and suffered in our place, that we might be justified before Thee. Amen.
