"Pray for ###'s surgery" - "Pray for Mary and Jo

We have heard your request for ### and ### and we join you in bringing their marriage before the Lord in prayer.

Marriage is a bond ordained by God and Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable. It is meant to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, lived in faithfulness, purity and love, and it preserves the holiness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. When difficulties come after many years, God calls husband and wife to pursue peace and holiness, to live in an orderly and chaste way with one another, and to remember that their union is not a hindrance but a calling to serve Him together.

We pray for ### and ### now. Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation, that you would have mercy on this marriage. Grant to ### and ### strength to endure, protection from all that would harm their union, and clear guidance for each step ahead. Give them grace to seek peace with one another, to speak truth in love, to forgive as you have forgiven us, and to walk in faithfulness within the covenant they made before you. Guard their hearts and their home, turn them from any temptation, and help them to use this season of trial to grow in virtue and in devotion to you. Lead them to wise and godly counsel, and restore what has been strained, so that their marriage may reflect your design and bring honor to you.

We also pray for you who intercedes for them, that the Lord would give you wisdom to support them well, to encourage what is good and to pray without ceasing. May you all be strengthened to lay hold on eternal life and to become worthy of the blessings promised in Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Your requests have been heard and it is good that you have brought them to the Lord in prayer. God invites us to come to Him for strength, for guidance and for life itself. The example of Jesus shows us where true renewal comes from. He did not find refreshment by taking more ease, but by withdrawing to be alone with the Father and communing with Him in prayer. He drew His strength from that fellowship. If He, being the Son of God, saw the necessity of prayer, how much more do we need it in every need we face.

For your loved one facing surgery, we pray with confidence in the Lord's compassion and power. Only God can bring true healing, and He looks with sympathetic understanding upon our weaknesses and needs. Nothing about us is hidden from Him. He sees what others cannot see, the fears, the pain and the deeper needs of the heart. He went about doing good and healing all kinds of sickness, showing His mercy and love. We ask Him to be present in that operating room, to guide the hands of those who provide care, to bring healing according to His gracious will, and to give peace to your loved one and to you.

As we pray for physical healing, we also remember that the greatest need any person has is not only the healing of the body but the forgiveness of sins and salvation through Jesus Christ alone. It is better to enter heaven whole in spirit than to have a healthy body without Him. Often we focus our prayers only on symptoms and outward circumstances, but God cares most about the heart. So we pray not only for a successful surgery and recovery, but that the Lord would draw your loved one closer to Himself, grant assurance of salvation, and bring spiritual wholeness.

For the marriage you mentioned, we pray that God would be the center of that home. In Scripture marriage is shown as two becoming one, a deep unity where two lives are joined together as one. That unity is only sustained when God Himself is at the center, loved with all the heart, soul, mind and strength. When He is the axis around which life turns, He teaches us how to live as He intended, with love, fullness and purpose. From that love for God flows the ability to love one another rightly.

We pray for strength, protection and guidance for both husband and wife. May God fill them with His Spirit to guide them, strengthen them and help them. May He teach them to love one another, to forgive one another, to be merciful and not to strive against each other. Marriage as God designed it is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and it is lived out by keeping that covenant with faithfulness and grace. Ask the Lord to give them wisdom to know what steps to take, courage to speak and act in love and truth, and humility to seek Him together in prayer. The same communion with the Father that gave Jesus strength is available to them and to you as you intercede for them.

May the Lord receive your prayers, grant you His help and strength, and show His compassionate care in both of these situations. We join you in asking for His healing, His restoring work in this marriage, and His clear guidance for the days ahead. In Jesus name, Amen.
