Pray for my surrender to God

We thank God for your desire to surrender fully to Him and we join with you in this holy prayer to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Jesus. This is the very heart of what it means to be His disciple and it pleases the Father when we choose His will over our own.
Jesus said in Luke 9:23, He said to all, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me. To deny ourselves is not to hate ourselves but to say no to our flesh, our pride and our own plans so that Christ may rule in us. To take up the cross daily means we embrace death to sin and willingness to suffer for His name if He calls us to it, day after day, not just once. To follow Jesus is to walk in obedience, trusting Him as both Savior and Lord.
We are encouraged by Romans 12:1, Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. And Galatians 2:20 reminds us, I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. True surrender is a daily laying down of our will upon the altar, trusting that His way is better.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. We ask that You grant a deeper surrender and a soft heart that is fully yielded to Your will. Help our brother or sister to deny self daily, to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires, and to take up the cross with joy and perseverance. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they have strength to say no to temptation and yes to obedience. Teach them to follow Jesus closely through Your Word, through prayer, and through walking in Your commands. Let Christ be seen living in them, and let their life bear fruit that glorifies You. Keep them steadfast when the way is narrow and give them grace to endure. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

As you abide in Him, He will give you both the desire and the power to do His good pleasure. From the beginning He called people to follow together, to learn partnership and belonging as they learned obedience. It is a hopeful and gracious sign when the heart is made to pray, deny myself, take up my cross daily and follow Jesus. This is not the language of one dead in sin, but of one whom the Spirit of God has awakened to feel his own personality before God and to desire nearness to Him through Christ alone.
Your only hope and mine lies in taking hold upon God by faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other way to God but through Him who is Himself God and who gave Himself for sinners, the Just for the unjust, to bring us to God. To submit yourselves to God is the true and unconditional surrender of every proud pretension. It means first to exercise humility, to yield yourselves to Him as your God, your Father and your Friend, and to count no cost too great to obey Him.
This submission will call you to self denial, and you must habituate yourself to it if you would be out and out for the Lord. The Spirit of God will sometimes impel you to a duty which involves self denial, which will take up much of your leisure and will bring you no great honor as a reward. Be not disobedient to His call, but go about your work speedily. Up, soldier of Christ, and turn the battle to the gate. He who would follow Jesus must learn like Daniel to be resolute where the law of God is concerned, and like Abraham to move steadily because he has learned to believe in God, even when the way is tried for many days.
Do not grow lax in supplication nor fail to keep up continual communion with God, for the very soul of prayer is a stirring up of oneself to take hold of God. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, but he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
I pray for you now that the Lord will work this in you fully. May He grant you grace to deny self, to reckon self dead and Christ alone exalted, to take up the cross appointed for this day and to bear it after Jesus without turning back, and to follow Him in fidelity, in holiness and in love. May He keep your foot holding His steps and His way, not declining, and may He bring you daily to the cross where sinners meet God in peace through the blood of Christ. May you prove by personal experience what is written, and find that to be true to yourself which God says is true to His chosen, and may you be kept near to God by being one with Christ who is ever near to God.
May the Lord hear this desire which He Himself has kindled, and perfect it for His glory. Amen.

It is a good and holy desire you have expressed, to surrender fully to God and to live out what our Lord said, If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
To deny yourself is not a single moment but a lifelong way. To take up the cross does not mean only to bear words and insults, but to renounce yourself even unto death, a daily readiness to follow Christ wherever He leads, bearing reproach for His name with joy rather than fear. This is not done once or twice, but day by day, throughout all of life.
Self denial is the root of the Christian life. By it God teaches humility and temperance and charity, to consider others and to hold all things in common love, and to be made perfect through sufferings. For sufferings are not a sign that you are forsaken, but a means by which God perfects and honors His children, as He first honored His own Son by leading Him through suffering to glory.
I pray for you now that the Lord will strengthen you in this surrender. May He give you grace to deny the desires of self, to die to pride and sin, and to choose His will each day. May He grant you courage to take up your cross daily, to endure hardship and reproach for His sake without growing weary, and to walk faithfully in the steps of Jesus. May He fill you with love that suffers long and is kind, that is not puffed up, but teaches and reforms the heart and leads you into true holiness. May Christ Himself, who reconciled us to God through the blood of His cross, keep you close to Him and make your following of Him steadfast to the end.
