Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we stand with you before the Lord in this heavy hour. We grieve with you over the distance from your daughter when she is sick and crying, over the exhausting commute and the unfair burden placed on you at work, and over the loneliness of being far from family in the Gulf. You are not alone, for where human help fails, Jesus does not fail, and He sees both you and your little child.
We pray first for your daughter. When fever lays hold of a child, a parent's heart is torn. Remember how Christ touched the fevered body and at once quenched the fever and restored perfect health, showing His power to heal in a way no physician can. We ask Him now to lay His healing hand upon your daughter, to cool her fever, to comfort her crying, and to restore her strength fully. And as you wait, give thanks even in this pain. Nothing is holier than the tongue that gives thanks to God in evils, and it receives a crown like that of the martyrs. If your child is sick and you still give thanks, that thanksgiving is a crown to you before God.
We pray also for your workplace. God is the defender of those who labor faithfully and are treated unjustly. He heard Jacob when Laban would have sent him away empty, and He defended the city for the sake of the righteous. We ask Him to bring justice where HR and management have not answered, to grant you favor in the eyes of those over you, and to open a door that no man can shut. May He either change the hearts of those who set unrealistic expectations or provide a breakthrough to a better opportunity near your home, where you can be close to your child and care for her as you long to do.
We pray for strength, peace and protection for both of you. The example of Job teaches us that affliction can be very great, yet God did not abandon him, and He will not abandon you. Do not let despondency darken your mind. Bring your grief to Christ, who heals the soul even more than the body, and who teaches us to trust not only in miracles but in His faithful word.
So we join our prayers to yours, as Scripture shows that the prayers of brothers and sisters avail much. May the Lord grant complete healing and comfort to your sweet daughter, divine intervention and justice in your workplace, daily strength and peace for you both, and a clear path to work that allows you to be present with your child. May He guard you from all harm and keep you close to Himself until He answers.
We will continue to remember you and your daughter before the throne of grace, trusting that the Lord who hears prayer will act in His perfect time and mercy.
