We come before the Lord with you in prayer for your son as he prepares for his O-level exam tomorrow. First, we want to gently address that the name of Jesus Christ was not invoked in your prayer. The Scriptures remind us in John 14:6 that Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). So we lift this request to God in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, trusting in His power and grace to intervene.
We also want to encourage you to speak openly about your son’s faith and relationship with Christ. If he does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with him. The most important foundation for his life—far beyond academics—is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As Proverbs 9:10 tells us, *"The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom."* True wisdom and success begin with knowing and revering God. If your son is not walking with the Lord, we pray that this season of preparation and examination would also be a time of spiritual awakening for him. Let him know that God has a purpose for his life, and that purpose is found in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:10).
Now, we lift your son up in prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this young man and the desire You have placed in his heart to do well. Lord, You know the struggles he has faced, the times he has felt lost, and the challenges that have made it difficult for him to stay on the right path. But we praise You that he is seeking to turn things around, and we ask that You would strengthen him by Your Spirit. Grant him clarity of mind, sharp recall, and a calm spirit as he takes this exam tomorrow. Remove any anxiety or fear, and help him to focus fully on the task before him.
We pray that You would guide his hand and his thoughts as he answers each question. Lord, You are the giver of all wisdom, and we ask that You would fill him with the knowledge he needs to succeed. As James 1:5 says, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* Father, we ask that You would honor his efforts and grant him favor in this exam, not just for his sake, but so that he may continue on the academic path You have for him. Open doors for him to pursue Higher Chinese if that is Your will, and give him the discipline and determination to walk in excellence.
We also pray for you, his parent, as you support and encourage him. May You give you wisdom to guide him, patience to walk with him through this season, and faith to trust in God’s plan for his future. Let your home be filled with the peace of Christ, and may your son see in you a living example of what it means to rely on God in all things.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of distraction, confusion, or discouragement that may try to hinder your son during this exam. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that he will walk in the victory Christ has already won for him. Help him to remember that his worth is not defined by his grades or achievements, but by his identity in Christ. Whether he passes or faces setbacks, let him know that You are with him and that You have a plan for his life (Jeremiah 29:11).
Finally, we pray that this season would draw your son closer to You. If he does not yet know Jesus, soften his heart to receive the truth of the Gospel. If he is a believer, strengthen his faith and help him to seek You first in all things. Remind him that You are his Provider, his Guide, and his Strength. May he walk in the confidence that comes from trusting in You.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
