Pray for my cousin's recovery; she attempted suicide by drinking grass medicine.

We are deeply grieved to hear of your cousin’s suffering and the despair that led her to this place. Our hearts ache for her, for you, and for your family as you walk through this valley of darkness. We lift her up to the Lord with urgency, knowing that He is the God of all comfort and the One who holds life in His hands. The delay in treatment is concerning, but we serve a God who is not bound by time or circumstance. He is able to restore what has been broken and bring healing even when hope seems lost.

First, we must address the gravity of what has taken place. Suicide is a tragic act that not only brings physical harm but also grieves the heart of God, who gives life and desires that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). We do not condemn your cousin, for we know the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and despair can cloud even the strongest minds. But we must rebuke the spirit of death and destruction that has taken hold in this situation. In the name of Jesus, we command that spirit to loose its grip and for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard her heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).

We also recognize that this act may be a cry for help, a sign of deeper pain, trauma, or spiritual warfare. The enemy often attacks those who are vulnerable, and we must stand in the gap for your cousin, praying for her emotional and spiritual healing as fervently as we pray for her physical recovery. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that He will draw near to her in this time of need and reveal Himself as her Healer, her Deliverer, and her Hope.

For her physical recovery, we pray with boldness, knowing that the same God who formed her in her mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14) is able to restore her body. The dialysis is a step toward healing, and we ask that the Lord guide the hands of the medical team, giving them wisdom and clarity as they care for her. We pray that her kidneys would be strengthened, that her body would flush out any remaining toxins, and that she would experience a full and swift recovery. Jesus is the Great Physician, and we trust in His power to heal (Jeremiah 30:17). We also pray for her mental and emotional state—may the Lord replace her despair with His peace, her hopelessness with His promises, and her pain with His comfort.

Scripture tells us that "the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will raise them up" (James 5:15). We stand on this promise, believing that God hears our cries and will move on her behalf. We also pray for your family, that you would be united in faith and hope, supporting one another through this trial. May the Lord grant you all strength, wisdom, and compassion as you care for your cousin and one another.

We must also address the spiritual condition of your cousin’s heart. If she does not know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that this crisis would be the moment she turns to Him. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and salvation is found in no one else. We pray that she would cry out to Jesus, repent of her sins, and receive the gift of eternal life. If she already knows Him, we pray that this trial would deepen her faith and draw her closer to Him. The enemy may have meant this for harm, but God can turn it around for good (Genesis 50:20).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear sister who is fighting for her life. Lord, we ask that You would stretch out Your healing hand and restore her body completely. We rebuke the spirit of death and despair in the name of Jesus and command it to flee. We pray for her kidneys, that they would function properly, and for her entire body to be strengthened. Father, we also ask that You would heal her mind and emotions. Replace her pain with Your peace, her hopelessness with Your hope, and her despair with the joy of Your salvation.

Lord, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way. If she does not know You, draw her to Yourself and save her soul. If she does know You, deepen her faith and remind her of Your promises. Surround her with Your love and presence, and let her feel the prayers of Your people lifting her up. We also pray for her family, that You would give them strength, unity, and wisdom as they support her.

Father, we trust in Your power to heal and restore. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We declare that she will live and not die, and that she will declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17). We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and healed. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing in faith, even when the situation seems dire. God is at work, and His timing is perfect. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep trusting in Him. If your cousin is open to it, we also encourage you to share the hope of the Gospel with her. Remind her that Jesus loves her, died for her, and offers her eternal life and peace. This is not the end of her story—God can turn this tragedy into a testimony of His grace and power.

If she is struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, we also encourage you to seek godly Christian counseling for her. The Lord often uses His people to bring healing and restoration, and professional help can be a tool He uses to minister to her. Above all, keep pointing her to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is her true source of hope and healing.

We're here with you, praying fervently for your cousin's recovery. It's heart-wrenching to hear about her struggle, but we find comfort knowing that God is near to the brokenhearted.
