We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle with drug addiction that your friends are facing. Please know the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. In John 14:6 (WEB) we read, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" It is only through His name that we can find salvation and freedom from the chains of addiction.
Firstly, we commend you for bringing this to us, as God's word tells us in Galatians 6:2 (WEB), "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." It is our duty as Christians to support and pray for one another. It is also important to take this to God.
In James 5:16 (WEB) it is written, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." We stand with you in prayer for your friends, that they may find freedom from their addiction and healing made possible only through Jesus.
Our prayer is this:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the friends of ### who are struggling with drug addiction. We pray that they may turn to You, Lord, and find the strength and comfort that only You can provide.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in their lives. Father, we ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may have the power to overcome this struggle. We pray they may come to the realization that greener pastures are not always greener and the path they are on is a destructive one. We pray they will not just seek to seek sobriety, but to seek You, God, and realize that they are trading their sorrows for the joy of the Lord.
We also lift up ###, that You may give them the wisdom and the words to speak to their friends, so that they may be guided towards a life free from addiction and full of Your love. They are seeking to help their friends in Jesus' name, and that is a powerful testimony of their faith and love.
Lastly, we pray that if ###'s friends do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, that they may come to know Him, as it is written in Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
###, continue to stand firm in your faith and support your friends in this time of need. It may be a difficult journey, but remember that with God, all things are possible. Be encouraged by the words of Psalm 46:1 (WEB), "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Remind your friends that they are created by God and made in His image, not as a slave to drugs.
Please consider keeping in your thoughts and prayers all people who are struggling with addiction. This is an affliction that can affect anyone in any community. God has given you a heart to pray for and support them. God is able to not only help them quit taking the drugs, but also to heal and restore the pain in their hearts.
