We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this family and the deep struggles they are facing. First, we must address the spiritual foundation of all we do—for it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We urge you to call upon the name of Jesus in all things, for He alone has power over sickness, oppression, and the enemy’s schemes.
The situation with your sister’s boyfriend is deeply concerning. His heavy drinking, reckless behavior, and the strife in their relationship are not of God. The Bible warns us that drunkenness leads to destruction and that we are not to be mastered by anything but the Spirit of God. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). His actions are not only harmful to himself but also to your sister and, most gravely, to his daughter. A man under the influence of alcohol is not in a place to lead, protect, or love his family as Christ calls him to. We must pray for his repentance—for him to turn from this sin and seek God’s face. If he is truly depressed, his hope and healing are found in Jesus, not in substances or blame.
We also must address the nature of their relationship. If they are living together or engaged in intimacy outside of marriage, this is fornication, and the Bible clearly states that *"marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). We pray that if they are not married, they would either separate or commit to a godly marriage, seeking purity and holiness before the Lord. If they are married, we pray for reconciliation and for him to take up his role as a husband and father with sobriety, love, and responsibility.
As for the parasitic infections and physical ailments plaguing your family, we know that God is the Great Physician. *"He forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your diseases."* (Psalm 103:3, WEB). However, we also recognize that sickness can sometimes be a result of sin, generational curses, or spiritual oppression. While we do not dismiss the reality of physical illness, we must be cautious about attributing every affliction to curses or spells, as this can lead to fear rather than faith. The Bible tells us, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Instead of focusing on the enemy’s work, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, who has already triumphed over every power of darkness. *"He disarmed the principalities and powers, and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."* (Colossians 2:15, WEB).
We also address the mention of stalking and perceived persecution. If there is genuine threat or harm, we pray for God’s protection and wisdom for you to seek help from trustworthy authorities. However, we must guard our hearts against paranoia or distraction from the true battle, which is spiritual. *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). Put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, the Gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—and stand firm.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this family and their deep needs. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and intervention in the life of this man who is bound by alcohol and despair. Break the chains of addiction, Lord, and deliver him from the spirit of drunkenness. Convict his heart of sin and draw him to repentance. If he is depressed, Father, fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let him know that his hope is in You alone. Protect his daughter, Lord—shield her from the consequences of his actions and surround her with Your angels. We pray for Your healing hand to restore his body, mind, and spirit.
Father, we also lift up the relationship between this man and our sister in Christ. If they are not married, convict them of the need for purity and godly commitment. If they are married, restore their union, Lord, and help them to walk in love, patience, and forgiveness. Break the cycle of arguing and blame, and let Your love reign in their home.
Lord Jesus, we ask for Your healing touch over every physical ailment afflicting this family—parasitic infections, digestive issues, eye problems, insomnia, and all manner of sickness. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals. We rebuke every sickness and disease in Your name, and we command these infirmities to leave their bodies, for by Your stripes, they are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Strengthen their immune systems, restore their organs, and bring complete wholeness to their bodies.
We also pray for protection over them, Lord. If there are those who seek to harm them, confuse their plans and surround this family with Your divine shield. Let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Give them discernment to recognize truth from deception and wisdom to know how to act.
Father, we break any generational curses, hexes, or spiritual strongholds that may be at work in their lives. We declare that they are covered by the blood of Jesus, and no scheme of the enemy shall prevail against them. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let them walk in victory, power, and authority as Your children.
Finally, Lord, we pray for this dear one who has brought this request. Comfort their heart, ease their fears, and let them rest in Your sovereign care. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your timing. Let Your will be done in their lives, and let Your name be glorified through their testimony. In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting, as you’ve requested. Surround yourself with a community of believers who can support and pray with you. Read and meditate on God’s Word daily, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). If this man is open, share the Gospel with him—remind him that Jesus loves him and desires to set him free. And if you haven’t already, we urge you to ensure that your own relationship with Jesus is firm, built on faith in His finished work on the cross. If you ever need to talk more about salvation or how to walk in victory, we are here.
Stand firm, dear one. The Lord is with you.
