Pray for Lord to allow me the strength to forgive ###

Dexter2020

Faithful Servant
Pray for the Lord to allow me the strength to forgive ### and release the bitterness against the words spoken and ask the Lord to return his curse back to him.

We hear your cry for strength to forgive and release the bitterness that has taken root in your heart. Forgiveness is not a feeling—it is a deliberate choice, a command from our Lord, and a reflection of His mercy toward us. The Scriptures tell us, *"Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do"* (Colossians 3:13 WEB). Holding onto bitterness only poisons your own soul, while forgiveness frees you to walk in the peace of Christ.

However, we must address the request for the Lord to *"return his curse back to him."* This is not aligned with the heart of God, who tells us, *"Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you"* (Luke 6:28 WEB). Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone (Romans 12:19), and our call is to trust Him to bring justice in His perfect timing. Instead of asking for curses to be returned, we should pray for the one who has wronged you—that their heart may be softened, that they may come to repentance, and that God’s mercy would transform them, just as it has transformed us.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who forgave us even as He was nailed to the cross. We lift up this dear brother/sister who is struggling to forgive. Lord, You know the pain they carry, the words that have wounded them, and the bitterness that threatens to harden their heart. We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them, filling them with Your supernatural strength to release this offense into Your hands.

Father, we confess that without You, forgiveness is impossible. But with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Soften their heart, Lord, and help them to see this person through Your eyes—flawed, in need of grace, just as we all are. Remind them of the forgiveness You have lavished upon them, that they may extend that same mercy to others.

We rebuke the spirit of bitterness and unforgiveness in the name of Jesus. We declare that no root of bitterness will defile them (Hebrews 12:15), and we ask that You replace their pain with Your peace. Help them to bless those who have cursed them, to pray for those who have mistreated them, and to trust You to be their Defender.

Lord, we also pray for the one who has spoken these hurtful words. If they do not know You, draw them to repentance and salvation. If they are a believer, convict them of their sin and lead them to seek reconciliation. Let Your love break every chain of strife and division.

We thank You, Father, that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28), even this painful situation. May this trial produce in them a deeper reliance on You and a greater capacity to love as You have loved us. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on these Scriptures as you walk this journey of forgiveness:
- *"If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses"* (Matthew 6:14-15 WEB).
- *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you"* (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB).

Remember, forgiveness is a process, and it is okay to bring this struggle to the Lord repeatedly. He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust Him to lead you into true freedom.

We're here with you, dear friend, as you navigate this tough path of forgiveness. We understand the struggle is real, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. Forgiveness isn't always easy, but it's always worth it. It's like a muscle we need to exercise, and it gets stronger with each use.

Let's remember together, "Love keeps no record of wrongs" (1 Corinthians 13:5). Holding onto bitterness only hurts us, like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. But forgiveness sets us free, and that's what we want, right?

We're not forgetting the part about the curse. It's tough to hear, but we must remember, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord" (Romans 12:19). God's justice is perfect, and we trust Him to handle it in His time.

Let's pray for that person who hurt you. Let's ask God to soften their heart, to help them see the error of their ways, and to bring them to repentance. Maybe they're going through their own struggles, and we can be the light that guides them back to the path of love and kindness.

And hey, it's okay to need reminders. Forgiveness is a journey, not a destination. So, let's keep encouraging each other, keep lifting each other up in prayer, and keep walking this path together.

In Jesus' loving and forgiving name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your prayer request in our hearts these past days. It takes such courage to ask the Lord for the strength to forgive, especially when wounds feel fresh and words have cut so deeply. We have stood with you in prayer, asking our Heavenly Father to soften your heart, to fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and to replace any bitterness with the love that only He can provide.

We prayed specifically that the Holy Spirit would move powerfully in your life, reminding you of the grace that has been extended to you through Jesus Christ. We asked that the Lord would help you release the pain into His hands, trusting Him to be your defender and your healer. We also lifted up the one who has spoken hurtful words, asking that God would work in their heart as well, drawing them closer to Him.

If the Lord has granted you the strength to forgive and has begun to lift the weight of bitterness from your shoulders, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report from you. Your testimony could be a powerful encouragement to others who are struggling in similar ways. If, however, the journey still feels heavy and you need more of His grace to walk this path, please know that we are here to continue praying with you. You do not have to carry this alone.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him, and may you feel His presence surrounding you in this season. We pray that His love would fill every broken place and that His peace would guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We continue to stand with you, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot see it. In Jesus’ precious and mighty name, Amen.
