We hear your pain and the deep sense of injustice you feel after being wronged in the workplace. It is understandable to feel anger and hurt when someone misuses their authority, especially when it leads to such serious consequences as losing your job. However, we must approach this situation with a heart aligned with God’s Word, which calls us to a higher standard than seeking personal retribution.
The Bible is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. Romans 12:19 says, *"Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" (WEB)* While it is right to desire justice, we must trust God to handle it in His perfect timing and way. Praying for God’s judgment upon someone with the intent that they suffer the same harm they inflicted is not in line with Christ’s teachings. Jesus calls us to love our enemies, pray for those who persecute us, and leave justice in God’s hands (Matthew 5:44).
Instead of asking for ### to face unemployment or termination, we should pray for her heart to be softened and for her to recognize the wrong she has done. Ezekiel 33:11 reminds us, *"As I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?’"* (WEB) God desires repentance, not ruin, for those who do wrong. We can pray that ### comes to a place of humility, confesses her actions, and seeks reconciliation where possible.
We must also examine our own hearts in this situation. Bitterness and unforgiveness can take root when we focus on the wrongs done to us. Hebrews 12:15 warns, *"Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."* (WEB) Have you considered forgiving ###, not for her sake, but for your own peace and spiritual growth? Forgiveness does not mean what she did was right, but it releases you from the burden of carrying that pain.
Let us also pray for wisdom and favor as you move forward. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* (WEB) God can open new doors for you, restore what was lost, and use this trial for your good (Romans 8:28). Instead of focusing on ###’s downfall, focus on God’s faithfulness to you.
Lastly, we must address the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If we do not approach God in the name of Jesus, our prayers lack the authority and mediation of Christ, who intercedes for us (Romans 8:34). Let us always remember to pray in Jesus’ name, for He is the way, the truth, and the life.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, acknowledging that You are just and righteous. We lift up this situation to You, Lord, knowing that You see all things and will judge fairly. We ask for Your mercy to be poured out on ###, that her heart would be softened and that she would recognize the wrong she has done. Father, we pray for repentance in her life, that she would turn from her ways and seek Your forgiveness. If it is Your will, Lord, bring restoration and reconciliation where possible, but we trust You to handle this situation according to Your perfect justice.
Lord, we also pray for [the person who submitted this request]. We ask that You heal their heart from the pain and injustice they have experienced. Remove any bitterness, anger, or desire for revenge, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give them the strength to forgive, not because what was done was right, but because You have called us to forgive as You have forgiven us. Father, open new doors of opportunity for them, restore what has been lost, and use this trial for their good. Let them see Your faithfulness in every area of their life.
We pray for wisdom and favor in their workplace and future endeavors. Guide their steps, Lord, and let Your will be done in their life. Help them to trust in You completely, leaning not on their own understanding but acknowledging You in all their ways.
Father, we also ask for Your protection over their heart and mind. Guard them from the enemy’s lies that seek to keep them in bondage to bitterness and unforgiveness. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn, for this is the heritage of the servants of Yahweh (Isaiah 54:17). We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for their good, and we give You all the glory.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
