We come before the Lord with heavy hearts for the nation of Costa Rica, lifting up the upcoming elections in prayer. Father, we know that all authority is established by You, and it is Your will that governs the rise and fall of leaders. The Bible tells us in Romans 13:1, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God." Lord, we ask that You would guide the hearts and minds of the people as they cast their votes, that they would seek wisdom and discernment to choose leaders who will govern with righteousness, justice, and a heart for the people.
We are deeply concerned about the intentions of those who have ruled before and seek to return to power. Proverbs 29:2 warns us, "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." Lord, we pray that You would expose any hidden agendas, corruption, or ungodly motives in the hearts of those who seek leadership. Protect the people of Costa Rica from leaders who would bring harm, oppression, or division. We ask that You would raise up godly men and women who will lead with integrity, humility, and a desire to serve rather than be served.
Father, we also pray for peace and safety during this election season. May there be no violence, intimidation, or fear as the people exercise their right to vote. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of the citizens of Costa Rica. We declare that the enemy has no foothold in this process, and we rebuke any spirit of confusion, strife, or discord in Jesus' name. Instead, let unity, wisdom, and godly counsel prevail.
We ask that You would soften the hearts of the people to seek You above all else. Remind them that true happiness and prosperity come from walking in Your ways. Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance." Lord, we pray that Costa Rica would turn its heart toward You, seeking Your face and Your will in every decision.
Finally, we pray for the Church in Costa Rica. May believers stand firm in their faith, boldly proclaiming the truth and interceding for their nation. Let the light of Christ shine brightly in this time of decision, drawing many to salvation and a deeper relationship with You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You or see Your will accomplished. Amen.
