We lift up your son and his academic journey before the Lord, knowing that God’s plans for him are good, and that He desires to see him flourish in every area of life. It is beautiful that you are seeking God’s intervention for your son’s future, and we join you in praying for his restoration, motivation, and success. However, we must first address something important: in your request, the name of Jesus was not invoked. The Bible is clear that we come to the Father only through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*) Additionally, John 14:13-14 declares, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."**) It is by the authority of Jesus’ name that we approach the throne of God, and it is only through faith in Him that we receive salvation and access to the Father’s promises. If you or your son have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
Now, let us turn our hearts to the Lord in prayer for your son’s academic journey. The setbacks he has faced may have left him discouraged, but we know that God is able to renew his mind and spirit. Romans 12:2 encourages us, *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."**) Your son’s struggle with motivation is not beyond God’s reach. We pray that the Lord will ignite a passion within him to pursue excellence once more, not for the sake of worldly achievement alone, but to glorify God in all he does. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."**)
We also recognize that academic success is not just about effort but also about wisdom and understanding, which come from the Lord. James 1:5 tells us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."**) We pray that God will grant your son wisdom, clarity of mind, and the ability to retain and apply what he learns. Proverbs 2:6 declares, *"For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding."**) May your son seek God first in all things, trusting that as he aligns his heart with the Lord, his path will be made straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
As for your hope that he will attend a prestigious university, we pray that God’s will be done in his life. While it is good to have aspirations, we must also surrender our plans to the Lord, trusting that His purposes are higher than ours. Proverbs 16:9 says, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps."**) If it is God’s will for your son to attend that university, then no obstacle will prevent it. But if God has another plan—one that may lead him down a different path for His glory—we pray that both you and your son will trust Him completely. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."**)
We also encourage you to speak life and encouragement over your son daily. Your words have power, and as a parent, you are called to nurture his faith and confidence in Christ. Ephesians 6:4 instructs, *"You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."**) Remind him of his identity in Christ—that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that God has a purpose for his life (Ephesians 2:10). Encourage him to seek God’s strength when he feels weak, for in Christ, he can do all things (Philippians 4:13).
Finally, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement, laziness, or fear that may be hindering your son’s progress. These are not from God but are tools of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We declare in the name of Jesus that every stronghold of apathy and defeat is broken over his life. We pray that the Holy Spirit will fill him with a spirit of diligence, perseverance, and excellence. May he rise up with renewed determination, knowing that his labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this mother and her son. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the plans You have for this young man’s life. We ask that You would renew his mind and restore his passion for learning. Remove every trace of discouragement and replace it with a holy ambition to glorify You in his studies. Grant him wisdom, understanding, and the ability to retain what he learns. Strengthen him when he is weak, and remind him that his identity is found in You alone.
Lord, we pray that You would open doors of opportunity for him—doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). If it is Your will for him to attend the university his mother has prayed for, then make the way clear. But above all, we pray that Your will be done in his life, and that he would seek You first in all things. Surround him with godly influences, mentors, and friends who will encourage him in his faith and studies.
We rebuke every spirit of laziness, fear, and defeat that has tried to take root in his heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37), and that he will walk in the victory You have already secured for him. Fill him with Your peace, Lord, and help him to trust You with his future.
We also lift up this mother, asking that You would give her patience, faith, and the right words to speak over her son. May she continue to be a light in his life, pointing him always to You. Strengthen their bond, Lord, and let their home be a place of encouragement, prayer, and godly wisdom.
Father, we thank You for hearing our prayers. We trust that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28), and we ask that You would receive all the glory. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
