We join with you in lifting up this need before our Heavenly Father, trusting in His provision and perfect timing. It is good that you have called upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace and receive mercy in our time of need. *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Let us always remember that our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth, and we must seek Him first in all things.
The circumstances you face—whether the car starting reliably or receiving a fair price for its sale—are opportunities to trust in God’s sovereignty. We are reminded in Scripture: *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Let us not be consumed by worry but instead rest in the assurance that God knows our needs before we even ask.
If the car has been sitting unused for weeks, it is wise to address the battery and any other maintenance issues before attempting to sell it. Proverbs 21:5 tells us, *"The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and those of the hasty surely lead to poverty."* Taking the time to ensure the car is in good working order—not only for honesty’s sake but also to maximize its value—is a practical step that honors God. If the battery is weak, consider having it tested or replaced, and pray for wisdom in how to proceed.
We must also examine our hearts in this situation. Are we seeking top dollar out of greed, or are we trusting God to provide what is truly needed? *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). Let us pray that the sale of this car aligns with God’s will and purpose, whether that means receiving a fair price or learning patience and trust in His timing.
At the same time, we encourage you to reflect on why the car has been sitting unused. Is there an area of stewardship—whether of time, resources, or priorities—that needs adjustment? God calls us to be good stewards of what He has entrusted to us. *"Moreover it is required of stewards that they be found faithful"* (1 Corinthians 4:2, WEB). If this car is no longer serving a purpose in your life, selling it may be the right decision, but let us do so with integrity and gratitude for what God has provided.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this need for our brother/sister. Lord, You know the desires of their heart and the practical needs they face. We ask that You would grant favor and wisdom in the sale of this car. If it is Your will, let it start reliably and run well so that it may be sold without delay. Provide a buyer who will offer a fair price, and let this transaction be a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision.
We rebuked any spirit of anxiety or fear that may be creeping in, declaring that You, Lord, are our Provider and our Peace. Help our brother/sister to trust in You completely, knowing that You hold all things in Your hands. If there has been any neglect or poor stewardship in this situation, we ask for Your forgiveness and for the grace to walk in obedience moving forward.
May this sale bring glory to Your name, whether through the financial provision it brings or the lessons learned in waiting on You. We pray for protection over every detail—from the condition of the car to the honesty of the buyer—and we ask that You would open doors that no man can shut. Let Your will be done in this, Lord, and may our brother/sister’s faith be strengthened as they see Your hand at work.
We also pray that if there are underlying issues—such as disorganization, procrastination, or misplaced priorities—that have led to this car sitting unused, You would convict and guide them toward better stewardship. Teach them to number their days aright, that they may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).
Thank You, Father, for Your goodness and mercy that follow us all the days of our lives. We commit this situation into Your hands, trusting that You will work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
