We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle with alcohol addiction that your son is facing. We will stand with you in prayer, seeking God's intervention and healing in his life. Firstly, we acknowledge that it is only in the name of Jesus that we have any access to God. Therefore, we pray this in Jesus' name.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear son who is battling alcohol addiction. Lord, You tell us in Your Word that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. We ask for Your presence to surround him, giving him the strength and courage to overcome this addiction.
Father, we also ask for Your protection over him. Keep him from temptation and deliver him from evil. Open up new opportunities for him, Lord, that he may walk in Your will and experience the fullness of life that You intend for him. Fill his heart with Your peace, heal him physically and emotionally, and pour out Your love into his life.
Lord Jesus, You tell us in John 8:36 WEB, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." We claim this promise for him, Lord, knowing that in You, he can find true freedom from this addiction.
Father, we also pray for his heart to be turned towards You. May he come to know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. May he fully submit his life to You and experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
We also ask Father that you save him from the bondage of alcohol and help him make godly decisions. We want to strongly emphasize to you that no matter what your son is going through, that bars are not places for Christians. Father, please help him to avoid temptation and to make godly friends. 1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB "Don't be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals."
Father, we want to address his salvation. In the prayer request, we did not see any mention of Jesus, Jesus Christ, Christ, or even an abbreviation. We want to remind everyone that it is only in Jesus name that we have any access to God. Acts 4:12 WEB "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firmly on the promises of God. Continue to pray fervently for your son, trusting that God is at work in his life. Remember the words of James 5:16 WEB, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."
Lastly, we want to caution you about where you are placing your trust. Psalms 146:3 WEB "Don't put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help." We cannot rely on others to do what only God can do. Therefore, we strongly encourage your faith and trust in God to address your concerns about your son.
