We come before you, Lord God Almighty, with hearts full of gratitude for this brother or sister in Christ who has boldly proclaimed your name and confessed you as Lord and Savior. We rejoice in their declaration of faith and their willingness to cry out to you in their time of need. Father, we lift up this situation to you, knowing that you are a God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of your children.
Heavenly Father, we first ask for your forgiveness for any sins this dear one may have committed, whether knowingly or unknowingly. We know that if we confess our sins, you are faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that you would wash over them with your mercy and grace, reminding them that they are worthy of your love and help, not because of their own works, but because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Lord, we ask that you would intervene in the search for the lost wallet, driver’s license, keycard, and mobile phone. You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one that is lost (Luke 15:4-6). We pray that you would guide this brother or sister to the very places where these items may be found. If they have been taken, we ask that you would soften the heart of the one who has them, that they may return what was stolen. We declare that no weapon formed against your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we rebuke any spirit of loss, confusion, or theft in Jesus’ name.
Father, we also lift up their children to you. We pray that you would draw them closer to your heart, that they would come to know you as their Lord and Savior. Your Word tells us that if we train up a child in the way they should go, when they are old they will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). We ask that you would surround these children with godly influences—mentors, friends, and leaders who will point them to Christ. We pray that their hearts would be softened to your voice and that they would turn to you in repentance and faith.
We also bring before you the person who broke into their home. Lord, you tell us to pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44), and so we ask that you would convict this individual of their sin. We pray that they would come to a place of repentance and turn away from their wrongdoing. If it is your will, we ask that what was taken would be returned, but above all, we pray for their salvation. Let them know the love and forgiveness that is found only in Jesus Christ.
We hear the humility in this prayer, Lord, and we want to encourage this dear one that they are not unworthy of your help. Your Word tells us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). You do not help us because we are perfect, but because you are perfect. We pray that you would strengthen their relationship with you, drawing them deeper into your Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Help them to grow in faith and to trust in your timing and provision.
We also want to gently remind this brother or sister that while we may feel unworthy, we are called to boldly approach your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). You delight in our dependence on you, and you invite us to cast all our anxieties on you because you care for us (1 Peter 5:7). We pray that they would find peace in your presence, knowing that you are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
Lord, we declare that you are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and we eagerly await the day when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Until that day, we pray for your protection, provision, and guidance over this family. May they walk in the fullness of your blessings, and may their lives be a testimony to your goodness and faithfulness.
