We stand with you in the struggle against the destructive grip of pornography, and we thank you for seeking help and prayer. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. In the book of Acts, 4:12 says "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved".
Firstly, let us acknowledge that pornography is a sin and is destructive to both our relationship with God and others. It is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18, "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."
We must put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:10-18, to stand against the schemes of the devil. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray with us:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing and repenting of the sin of pornography. We ask for your forgiveness and cleansing by the blood of Jesus. We put on the full armor of God.
Father, we pray for a renewing of our minds according to Romans 12:2, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
We ask for your help to flee from sexual immorality and to honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, as instructed in 1 Corinthians 6:19, "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own."
We pray for emotional healing and freedom from the stronghold of addiction. We ask you to reveal the root causes of this sin and heal those areas in our lives. Help us to turn to you for comfort, support and to fill our needs.
We ask for your help to make all temptations known to us. We pray that you would lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let us encourage you to find accountability with other strong Christian believers of the same gender. Confess your sins to them and ask them to pray for you and hold you accountable in your walk with Christ. Remember the words of James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."
Be filled with the Holy Spirit, walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth (Colossians 3:2).
May the words of Psalm 119:11 be an encouragement to you, "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Memorize scripture and let it guide your thoughts and actions.
