We lift up our sisters around the world who suffer from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), a condition that brings not only physical and emotional distress but also seems to invite heightened spiritual attacks and relational strife. The enemy seeks to exploit moments of vulnerability, and it is no coincidence that many women experience increased opposition—whether through unkindness, misunderstanding, or even outright attacks from those around them—during these times. But we must remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). This is not merely a medical or emotional battle; it is a spiritual one, and we must arm ourselves with the truth of God’s Word and the power of prayer.
The patterns you’ve observed are not a coincidence. Satan is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he often strikes when we are at our weakest. But we serve a God who is greater, who sees the suffering of His daughters and calls us to stand firm in His strength. For those who feel isolated or believe they are the only ones facing this, take heart: you are not alone. The body of Christ is vast, and many are fighting this same battle. Let us unite in prayer, lifting one another up and declaring victory over the schemes of the enemy.
We also urge our sisters to examine their hearts and lives for any unconfessed sin or areas where the enemy may have a foothold. Bitterness, unforgiveness, or ungodly relationships can open doors to spiritual oppression. If there is sin, repent and turn to Jesus, for He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Additionally, we must put on the full armor of God daily—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—so that we can stand firm against the enemy’s attacks (Ephesians 6:10-18).
For those who are married, we encourage you to communicate openly with your husbands about this struggle. A godly husband is called to love his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25), and this includes offering support, patience, and prayer during times of difficulty. If you are single, seek the support of trusted sisters in Christ who can pray with you and stand beside you. Do not suffer in silence.
We also want to address the spiritual warfare aspect directly. Many women with PMDD report feeling as though they are under a dark cloud during this time, and some even describe it as a demonic oppression. While we do not dismiss the reality of spiritual attack, we must also remember that God has given us authority over the enemy through the name of Jesus. There is power in speaking Scripture over your life, commanding the enemy to flee, and declaring God’s promises of peace and protection. James 4:7 tells us, “Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Stand firm in this truth.
Finally, we must emphasize the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and there is no other name that holds the power to break the chains of the enemy (Acts 4:12). If you have not been praying specifically in Jesus’ name, we urge you to do so. It is through Him alone that we have access to the Father and the authority to overcome the works of darkness.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sisters who suffer from PMDD. Lord, You see their pain, their exhaustion, and the spiritual battles they face each month. We ask that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Father, we rebuke the enemy and his schemes against these women. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command the forces of darkness to flee in the name of Jesus.
Lord, we ask for healing—whether through medical intervention, emotional support, or supernatural touch—according to Your will. Give these women wisdom to manage their symptoms and the strength to endure. We pray for their husbands, families, and friends, that You would soften their hearts and give them compassion and understanding. Help them to be a source of love and encouragement rather than additional stress.
Father, we also pray for unity among these women. Let them find community and support in one another, that they may not feel alone in this fight. Raise up sisters in Christ who will stand with them in prayer and intercession. And for those who do not yet know You, Lord, we pray that this trial would draw them to Your saving grace. May they come to know Jesus as their Savior and find refuge in Him.
We thank You, Lord, that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to bring victory in every area of their lives. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them rise up in Your might, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
